Love it!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/29/09
The people of Motel East have always been so pleasant and kind. My boyfriend and I stopped through last year on a whim and they bent over backwards to accommodate us. Lovely place, lovely people!

Very good value, beautiful location
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/17/09
Washington County, Maine has few, if any, chain motels and hotels. And so lodging facilities here are often hit or miss, with more misses than hits. So with that in mind, I found the Motel East a pleasant surprise. The prices are reasonable, the accomodations range from adequate (bed, TV) to above and beyond expectations (small refrigerator, sink, counter and cabinets, comfortable chairs, and an extraordinary view from the balcony. My wife and I plan to return this spring. Eastport is a great jumping off point for exploring the Down East region.

A ROOM WITH A VIEW!
By M, 4/8/06
I stayed a week. And if I didn't have responsibilities that I had to return to, I very well may have stayed a second week. Eastport is a great little town. The island is beautiful. The architecture is interesting. The restaurants are varied and affordable. But the best part of Eastport is the people that live there. I can't say enough good things about them. And if staying in Eastport overnight, I strongly recommend staying at Motel East. The rooms are large and clean. The decor is rustic, but not nearly as rustic as the look of the building from the outside. Inside, creature comforts are waiting. The staff was friendly and helpful with information and suggestions. The location is perfect for enjoying Eastport. The motel is located "downtown" and therefore easy to walk to the restaurants and shops. Besides size, cleanliness, location and the friendly staff, the view is great. Sunrise is beautiful, but you will have to get up early to see it. The rooms have balconies which are a great place to sit and take in the view of "all that water!" M. Manning Sarasota, FL.

Heaven on Earth
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/6/05
Eastport is delightful and the people are swell; I was pleasantly surprised to not encounter any reticence or standoffishness that one might expect in Maine. Eastport is like a little slice of the past - 100 years ago. Water Street, which runs along the bay & where you'll find the Motel East, is quaint, charming & romantic. Once you park your car at the motel you can walk to the Waco Diner or other restaurants & cafes & have a lovely ramble along the waterfront. The service at the Motel East was superb & Pam at the front desk was enthusiastic & very helpful - just a doll. I've never seen a larger motel room. It was comfortably furnished with wing chairs & a nice round table & a mini-kitchenette - at such a favorable rate! The best part, however, was the view past the french doors & balcony: Passamaquoddy Bay & Campobello Island, Canada beyond. You won't want to leave. If you want to get in the mood before your visit, read Sarah Graves's murder mysteries. Bon voyage!!!
