Nice, Quiet Place
By Carrie, 7/31/11
Coyaba was a quiet, friendly place to stay, but really just like a standard hotel. We didn't do the all-inclusive option, and were happy with that as we had an in-room refrigerator and had extra food items we ate for breakfast two mornings. The beach is not a great swimming area, and no one seemed to take advantage of the water sports. There are only three places to eat; only one option for breakfast, one for lunch and two for dinner. Room was clean, tour desk was helpful, taxis arrived quickly, fitness center was adequate. Don't expect to see much of Montego Bay by foot. Everything is by taxi or excursion. Coyaba is located on the main road, and we were disappointed that we couldn't (and were advised 'shouldn't') walk around on that street alone. Even though we were considered to be in the tourist area with other resorts, Montego Bay isn't like other cities/towns that we've visited that we felt comfortable exploring. A shopping trip to the Hip Strip (stores and restaurants on a mile-long street) can cost $50 (not including tip) for a taxi ride. The workers in these shops were Jamaicans but owned and managed by people from other countries. And things sold here were cheaply made in other countries. Overall, we would return to Jamaica but spend more time in Negril. It was also VERY WINDY and we're not sure if that is typical for Montego Bay as Negril was calm, beach water clear. If staying in Montego Bay, we'd be more interested in another resort that provided more entertainment and things to do as Coyaba was just a quiet, low-key place to stay,

loved it! defintiely go back again
as someone who has lots of family in jamaica, i don't often get the chance to do my 'own thing' so when the opportunity presented itself, my firends and i booked Coyaba not knowing anythign about it, only reading tripadvisor reviews. Well we were all pleasantly suprised, best service i have received in such a long time, we stayed in some other hotels in Mo Bay and trust me, nothing even came close. The place ws so clean and well kept. it seemed like it was brand new. The staff were more than happy to assist and no request seemed too much. From the gorgeous rum punch we were given complimentary upon entering, to the fantastic personal service we received right therough to the end, i actually don't have naything negative to say about this hotel. And if you're up for a walk, Scotchies jerk place is literally a 10 minute bop down the road, where you'll pass a few rum shacks playing good music on the way if you want to stop off for a quick drink. I am definitely going to go back to this hotel, despite being chased by a crab at 3am retunring to the hotel from the big, clean jacuzzi outside!!

Great place to relax
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/19/09
My boyfriend and I just went there for vacation for 4 days. This was our second time back at Coyaba. The first time we went there was in 2004, and we always wanted to come back. This is such a great place to go if you really want to just get away and do nothing. Although the hotel was full this time, I really felt like we had the place to ourselves. The pool and beach were never overcrowded, and the people that stay there are usually quiet and respectful. In a nutshell, here are positives and negatives: Positives -close to the airport -beautiful beach and pool area -relaxing and quiet -tennis courts, basketball court, pool table area if you get bored on the beach -watersports available (kayaking, etc.) -small gym, but useable if you really want to work out -management is very responsive to needs -other hotels near by- ritz, etc if you want a change of scenery Areas of improvement: -mixed drinks had no alcohol and expensive- go for the wine -food is just "OK"- but the chicken was really good! -service in general at the 2 restaurants and 3 bars were unreliable- at times we got ignored but then if you forgot to sign your bill they would chase you down - it is on a busy road so you really can't leave the resort by foot and it is a bit scary if you do. stick to taking taxis One more thing about the climate- this is a positive thing for me but some people may not like it- it is often very windy on the beach- but on a hot day it feels great but can get a bit chilly at night. I love this place and will go back again- although this time we might BYOB! hope this was helpful!

Lovely hotel; lovely people
By John J, 1/30/08
I thoroughly enjoyed my 3 days here, late December 2006. Would recommend it to anyone. If you don't need internet access (which they have from one small booth at scary prices) - another reason to stay there!

Just got back and am saving for next year
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/14/07
I loved everything about Coyaba! We were there for our daughter's and son-in-law's wedding along with lots of other family and friends -- every single detail was attended to with great care. The property is small and intimate and the staff treated us like royalty -- they went out of their way to make sure that our every desire was fulfilled. The rooms were very clean, the food was wonderful the way the resort is situated on the beach was phenomenal. The grounds were well-taken care of and I almost cried when it was time to leave. I recommend this resort to EVERYONE -- I'm going back next year, God's willing! Thanks to Scott and his entire staff -- they are all world-class people! Joe & Linda Smaldore Springfield, VA (USA)

Perfect Romantic Getaway!!! Superb seclusion for lovers!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/2/06
I visited Coyaba Resort for a wedding of a close friend. I sincerely enjoyed myself. The Jamaican men truly cater to American women. Gladstone was one of the bartenders at the resort and he made the best drinks ever. If you ever visit be sure to ask him for his specialty drink called, the Coyaba Jam. I recommend the all inclusive plan because its really worth the extra money for unlimited food and drinks. Unfortunately for us, upon arriving to the resort we were informed that daily massages were included in the all inclusive package. However, we later discovered that the massages were not apart of the all inclusive plan. The resort typed letters supposedly with sincere regrets, that they were not honoring massages with the all inclusive plan. In spite of this mishap, the food and drinks were AWESOME. Also, the all inclusive plan included room service and the staff delivered in a timely fashion. Coyaba Resort is PERFECT for lovers and romancing. I had an ocean-view room and off the patio, was the beach. I found several secluded area on the property for love nests (if you get the picture). However, beware of the MOSQUITOES!!! I noticed quite a few bites after returning. Visiting the pier while the sun was setting was a delightful treat. I enjoyed walking along the beach at night and listening to the crashing waves. Also, the furnished patios were very pleasing during sunrise for breakfast and an evening cocktail while gazing into midair during sunset. My husband and I got our GROOVE BACK at Coyaba and we are planning to go back again for a rendezvous. The wedding at Coyaba was gorgeous!!! However, certain things are very important to brides on their big day and I can understand that. The photographer that came with the wedding package was HORRIBLE. Make sure that you get an outside photographer to capture your memorable moments. In addition, choose an outside florist because those tropical flowers probably would never correlate with your wedding colors. The wedding cake was only for presentation and pictures because it was the worst wedding cake that I have ever tasted. Besides these flaws everything else was great.

wonderful spot!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/4/05
Great service, real family atmosphere. There was a wedding party there when we stayed who seemed to be having a wonderful time. I later learnt that they specialise in weddings.
