Sarayi Hotel, Ellis Beach

This hotel and the personnel do not warrant any business. We checked in with a young lady who had a man looking over her shoulder. He asked her three times if we had prepaid for the room � clearly his top priority. The room itself looked clean, but smelled like urine. The air conditioner was completely inadequate; the television was mounted high on the wall in the corner at the head of the bed and had no remote. The linens were threadbare. The room had no phone. This man was rude, confrontational and full of himself. He did bring us a phone and offered us other rooms that were a slight improvement over the first room, but by then it was too late. We were afraid of him. This was not the place we had anticipated for an idyllic six day stay in a tropical paradise. After reaching an impasse with the man- he refused to refund any part of our prepayment - we walked out. There we we were on the street with no room! Fortunately it was easy to find another accomodation. We did hear from other people in the area that this was not an uncommon experience at this hotel.
