Twin Farms is a special place.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/20/09
Where do I begin? We have now stayed at Twin Farms 3 times. We travel from California to stay at Twin Farms. We have brought friends with us the past two times. Everyone loved it and thought it was a great value. The staff could not of been more helpful. The last time we were there we celebrated our 25th anniversary and they made it very special. The staff no matter what time of day are always ready to please and they are so friendly. It is so much fun to return and see everyone again. The rooms are amazing and the food is exceptional. Thank you Twin Farms, it truly is a special place.

Just good
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/08/09
Our stay last month was very nice. There is an obvious staffing issue at hand, seems as though the current staff is having a hard time handling the property as effectively as we have seen in the past. There were some familiar faces that we would have liked to see, but were missing. Likely are operating on a reduced staff due to the economic factors. Overall still like the place, it isn't matched anywhere else in the country, but the speed and execution of guest service requests has slowed down considerably with what seems like less people doing the work. Be back in the fall when the colors come out.

Unreal
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/29/08
The person who wrote the 7/31 review is not the kind of people we want in VT. He/she must have been the arrogant one, not the other way around. This place is very special and unique, and they will go out of their way to assist you in any way, but remember at 1130pm at night in Vermont, everyone is asleep. This is not New York City or Boston!

Service lacking the smile!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/31/08
Pretty enough, I grant you. The gentleman in Guest Services seemed to be very put out when called at 11:10pm.He wasn't helpful at all. And hung up the phone in mid-sentence. It ruin my evening. I thought about the ordeal til about 4:30am. Snooty, Arrogant and Unhelpful. IT"S PUBLIC RELATIONS BUDDY!!!!!! This means going out of your way to help individuals REGARDLESS!!!!!

Surpassed our expectations
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/09/07
Twin Farms brought us back to a peaceful place in life that has long since been left behind... We arrived on a beautiful day to pristinely kept landscape and a dinner to kill for. Compliments to the new Chef, Ted Ask, and his amazing sous staff. We only took issue with the staff seeming to preoccupied with planning our next move. The dining room staff was constantly questioning what our plans were for our next meal, and it became a bit overbearing. We did, however, meet one of the most genuine and professional service employees we have ever interacted with. Jake, our driver (among other roles), anticipated our every need, and seemed to truly be interested in our well-being throughout our entire stay, whether it be a Pellegrino at the tennis court, or having the car turned around at the Barnard shop when we came out so that we didn't have to back into traffic. We would have enjoyed meeting the general manager, but he was not available throughout our stay of 3 days at any time. Another great staff member was one of the activities leaders, Josh, who saw to it that we were well informed of the trails and various things to do around the farm. Overall a very pleasant stay, we would advise anyone going to take advantage of the great spa choices and get to know some of the staff members during your stay. We will be back in the fall...

Great mix of run and romance
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/28/07
I cannot say enough about Twin Farms. We stayed in the Aviary Cottage for three nights, and did not want to come home. The aviary is only two years old..very modern (heated bathroom slate floors, two floors, two fireplaces, two flat panel tvs, wall to wall windows (jacuzzi tub next to a fireplace and windows)... remote control black out shade to cover windows for privacy, awesome art work..paintings...sculptures...second floor glass deck.....i could go on and on. We toured other cottages, and all were beautiful, but found the aviary to be the best. One of the great things about Twin Farms is that you feel like you have the grounds all to yourself. Nobody bothers you, however, if you need anything, staff members are readily available. Be sure to make a reservation to dine in the wine cellar when you book your cottage. We ate there one night.. it was all set up just for us...candles, creative displays of candles and pine cones and branches.....music...just for us. so romantic. Another thing worth mentioning is that you can just come and go in any building ...either to get skates or snow shoes (they have boots for you too)....and just take whatever you want back to your cottage for the length of your stay. Staff will even build you a bon fire outside while you skate...or have lunch.....if you are going away from the grounds for the day, they will pack you a picnic lunch. One day after ice skating, we changed into our bathing suits, and went to the furo (the japanese bath...180 degree water) to warm up. we sat in the water, and slid the sliding glass window open...which was really quite amazing to be practically in the snow..yet still feel so warm. total pamper-ville. We also enjoyed hanging out in the pub (again....yet another place we had all to ourselves) I played the baby grand steinway, we played pool, darts, ate and drank and watched football for a little while before returning to our cottage. We went on a sleigh ride pulled by two beautiful horses....and felt like we were in a christmas movie. The only negative..is that the dinners were really quite awful. Way too many flavors in each dish. One dish was lamb ravioli with pumpkin seeds, goat cheese, carrots, in a sauce with a spice that i cannot remember right now. soooo bad. another dinner was lobster with purple potatoes, in a cream sauce and topped with a purple foaming SQUID FOAM (i had never heard of squid foam before) . We scraped off the squid foam and it was still pretty horrible. All three of the dinners we had there had a common spice in them that kind of reminds me of cumin or curry. We were very happy that we had packed our jeep with snacks, because our cooler became our back up plan for dinner every night. Lunches and breakfasts were great. Aside from the dinners, Twin Farms was truly amazing...and as I sit here typing this review...I am printing out pictures that look like post cards. Very memorable...and would love to go back in the spring. It's no surprise that Twin Farms was awarded top rated small hotel, best rooms, and best service in Zagat 2007 hotel revies.

A Kingly (or Queenly) Retreat
By Laura, 06/10/05
Twin Farms is a fabulous resort - it is expensive, however. We only were able to stay a weekend, but it is a weekend I will never forget. We went in June so we missed the ski season, but the beauty of the place was in full swing. There were hiking trails, and we were able to take a fully packed picnic basket with wine, fruit and cheese, and mouth-watering sandwiches. We were treated like royalty. You could meet up with other guests in the main house and sit by the huge fireplace and talk, or go to the separate "bar house" and play pool and drink from their fully premium stocked bar. Our room was worth every penny - exquisitly decorated. We slept on a real feather bed. There wasn't a phone nor a television, so we were truly "away from it all". I highly recommend this retreat for anyone who wants to put a little zing back into their romantic life, on their honeymoon, or just wants to relax. It was truly an experience of a lifetime.

This place is absolutely unquestionably the best!!!
By p.j., 03/26/04
Twin Farms is absolutely the best all inclusive resort in the North East. The people were so nice. The accommodations were awesome. The pub (open bar with you name it, they got it), gym, steam bath everything was immaculate. The private ski area was a perfect size. We went cross country skiing, snowshoeing, sledding, hiking, etc. The food every single day was spectacular. Definitely well worth the money and the hike into the woods. We met a number of people who had been there on numerous occasions. Make an effort to go here in this lifetime. P.S. ~ Snow makes this place even more romantic.
