KEEP ON DRIVING!

My wife and I just stayed at this hotel on a recent trip to L.A.
We choose this spot because it is the half way point between S.F. & L.A. The hotel seemed nice on the internet, and for a quick night stay, it seemed like an okay place.
We rolled in around 10:00 P.M., and were greeted by a group of men drinking cheap beer and talking loudly out on the second story balcony of a few of the rooms. It didn't bother us too much; just sort of set the tone for our stay.
After checking in we walked to our room, located on the first level. My first impression was not so great when I saw that the bathroom featured hand soap and lotion dispensers adhered to the bathroom mirror. It was very reminiscent of a gas station bathroom. The shower/tub combo was exactly the same way.
Next was the bed. HORRIBLE. This bed was so hard, and uncomfortable it made it impossible to sleep. To make matters worst, the guests above us apparently could not sleep ether. They kept getting up and walking around. Unfortunately the floor between the two of us was very loud and creaked all night. Adding to our inability to get some rest.
DONT DRINK THE WATER!! The water in our bathroom was horrible. It tasted like sulfur. I had to go out and buy bottled water for the night. The next day when I showered, the shower water again smelled like metal and sulfur.
The next morning the free continental breakfast that Best Western brags about leaves something to be desired. Cheep coffee, cheep orange juice, no fresh coffee creamer (Only powdered) Styrofoam cups, a small selection of dry cereals, some sad looking pastries, toast or bagels, and some fruit finish off the free breakfast. Good thing it was free!
The swimming pool and spa is in the corner of the parking lot. It is very small, and lacks any sort of landscaping. It is all concrete and metal fencing. Not exactly a relaxing oasis. Very industrial looking.
Finally, the carpet in our room had several stains. This leaves me to believe that if they cannot tend to simple things like stains in the carpets, what else are they not doing!
