Honeymoon 2005
By ,
We spent the first 5 night of our honeymoon at Blancaneaux and loved every minute. The hike to the waterfall and swimming hole from the lodge, the early morning bird watching, the cave tours, the sunset horseback ride, and most importantly, the trip to Caracol...giving us a lesson on a culture we didn't know much about, and now are very curious and yearning to learn more of. Excellent food, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Our server Diego was fantastic as was Eric the tour leader.

Relaxing
By ,
My boyfriend and I just spent 3 nights at Blancaneaux after spending time on the cayes. Blancaneaux was the perfect relaxing ending to our vacation. It rained just about the whole time, but we didn't mind just reading and relaxing, getting massages, eating wonderful food, and soaking in the perfect hot pool. The last half of the 2.5 hour drive from Belize City is bumpy, but not scary and kind of fun. Our drivers, Ramon and Hugh, were like tour guides in their own right. We also did the long day trip to Tikal. While it was great, we don't recommend going in heavy rain because the road in Guatemala is really bad, and many cars and buses got stuck (it's supposed to be paved some time in 07, but they've been saying that for a long time). Our Tikal tour guide Armando was excellent and enthusiastic and seemed to have unlimited knowledge of the site and Mayan history; request him if you can. All in all it was worth it. We stayed in two rooms, the family cabana and honeymoon cabana: both were very nice for different reasons, but we preferred the family. The whole experience was very expensive, but you get what you pay for.

Blancaneaux - so beautuful and relaxing!
If you are on a honeymoon ---this is the place to go - you are so away from everything. THe service is amazing. Don't go if you want an active nightlife - this isn't the place. In fact - by 9 we were in bed every night (not necessarily speaking). This is like camping in LUXURY! Stay in one of the Villas - they are enormous and a bit pricey - yes - but well worth it! I will go back there again!

paradise

Loved everything about this resort, from the villas openness.....semi-outdoor showers...and getting in touch with mother nature....It felt almost like camping, but with all the amentities....We took many trips while at blancaneaux, one of our favorites, was the horse back ride to big rock falls, swimming under the falls with our guide, was absolutely amazing.....also enjoyed the trips to barton creek and caracol. This is a must do adventure, for those who love the outdoors, and the quietness....
