Great little escape!
By LolaStar87, 12/13/08
I stayed at this hotel with my family a few weeks ago and it was lovely! The room looked just like the picture, the breakfast was great, and the service was definatley up to par. The best part of the hotel is the service! Everyone was very nice, from the housekeeping staff to the front desk staff. We were checked in by a very young girl. As soon as i saw her working the desk i assumed she would be a problem (i have found many young people to be quite rude lately), but she was a gem! We arrived quite a few hours early on a Sunday, but she didn't mind at all. She took all of our information so that we only had to collect our keys when the room was ready, and sent us into Kennett Square for the afternoon. We had brunch at a great little cafe, Sunrise, and were even waited on by the young girl's mother. This alone showed us how nice and quaint a small town could be! After we walked around Kennett Square for a but, we went back to the hotel. There was still some time untill the room would be ready, but the receptionist (the same young girl) opened up the afternoon tea early for us to enjoy. She even gave us some tips on where to go and what to do in the area! She wrote down her favorite places, along with phone numbers and short cuts. When she noticed my son looking over some college applications for the fall, she gave him her full attention! She spent the next half hour talking with us about her college experience. All in all we had a lovely time in Chadds Ford. Comfy beds, great food and culture, lovely atmosphere, and impeccable staff!!! We did not see the young girl again after that day, some one mentioned she only works on Sunday mornings, but she really made our stay! The Brandywine River Hotel is most definitely worth the money!!!

Best Place to Stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/22/08
We loved the coziness of this small hotel. Staff was friendly. The Afternoon Tea was delightful and fresh baked cookies were delicious! We checked in early and front desk staff was very accommodating even though check in wasn't until 3:00. We could smell the cookies baking and got to enjoy them later that afternoon. Breakfast was simple but fresh and filling. We certainly enjoyed the comfort and traquility of this hotel and would reccommend to any one is going to tour the Brandywine Valley or Chadds Ford area. The wonderful Wyeth museum is only footsteps away and Longwood a short distance on the same highway.

Unique and charming little hotel!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/04/08
We liked this place a lot! It is very small, only 40 rooms. There is a pretty foyer with a big fireplace, which was burning brightly when we checked in. Two guests were having a glass of wine in the foyer, and chatting with what we thought might be the owner who greeted us warmly. Our room was cozy, clean, and quiet. Breakfast was simple but just right. You can walk to the Brandywine Museum from the hotel, and the Winery is only a few blocks away. There is wonderful restaurant within steps of the hotel and we had a great dinner there. The owner checked us in and she also offered to make dinner reservations for us and gave us lots of suggestions on things to do. We will definitely go back here and will recommend it to our friends!

bad service/ cheap rooms
By mattfrom, 03/28/08
The entire bathroom was extremely annoying and disappointing. We specifically asked for the jacquizzi that could fit 2 people. Before I made a reservation, I called them up and asked them to if they have 2 person jacquizzis and they said yes. and they can fit 2 people , but only barely( I was wondering just how small the single person jacquizzi were if the 2 person ones were this small). It was very difficult for both of us to enjoy it at the same time. But this is the least annoying of my problems with this room. This is bad advertising.this is like saying you are a romantic hotel but the rooms are only with twin beds. Also, every single plumbing fixture in oure bathroom had at least 1 problem ( both bathub knobs were loose/stripped, the sinks cold water knob was leaking when you rotated the knob in the shut off position .and the cold water handle in the shower was all not up to par as well(too loose and difficult to figure out which way to turn them because it provided a nearly constant poor water pressure.) These problems should have been found out long ago and replaced. The odds that 1 fixture becomes defective are fairly common, but ALL of them?! The worst part was the shower. the water coming out of it was so fine and the water pressure was so poor it was very very hard to take a shower.( for the price they were asking for these rooms you would think they could a 10 dollar shower head at a hardware store!).My girlfriend was so annoyed with the shower we decided to just take a shower when we got back home becuase she knew it would take her a long time to wash her hair with that weak and fine shower spray.I have very short hair and even i had problems washing my hair While we were leaving,I went up to the front desk and drop off my keys andi was hoping she would ask me how my stay was so it would be an easy way to mentiion my problems. she never asked me. out of all the hotels ive been in this is one of the few that never me that. Still I mentioned every bathroom problem to the front desk. The lady at the front desk barely looked up and she acted like our complaints were no big deal and stated and i quote" oh thats becuase it was put in that way"/ that was a real insult to our intelligence and that really made us angry. It was such a lame excuse .We were looking for an apology and perhaps maybe a deal on a better room later.

Good and Not So Good
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/18/06
Beautiful, clean hotel with friendly staff. However, they would not turn on the heat, claiming it was 65o outside. It was more like 50o in room. Huge dog (Lab)in room next door barked all night both nights of our stay in hotel. Go when the weather is warm and ask for a room away from room with pets.

Oops!
By sandy, 04/04/06
The Inn and the room are attractive. However, we reserved the king size bed, with a fireplace and a Jacuzzi. The Jacuzzi is a real turn-off. There aren't any safety strips and it is lacking handles to help you getting in and out. It felt so slippery, that we didn't use it for fear of falling. That left only a very small stall glass shower. If you are over-weight or pregnant, entering and leaving the very small glass shower is a squeeze, aside from being a bit clastraphobic and again dangerous if one were to slip. The location is very convenient to the Branywine River Museum.

Great place to stay!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/09/05
What a lovely hotel! Service was great and it was very relaxing even though there is so much to do nearby. Rooms are large and comfortable (ours had a jacuzzi tub). Great mixture of the ambience of a bed and breakfast with the privacy of a hotel. We definitely plan to stay again!
