Don't be fooled!

From the get go this place was terrible. No fridge or microwaves in the rooms. We called ahead of time and were assured that we would be able to have a microwave brought to our room. Upon arrival we were told they don't even have microwaves at all. The restaurant is closed on Tuesday and Wednesday. They also advertise shampoo and conditioner but only have "conditioning shampoo" this place should have spent less money on cool room key cards and more on things a normal hotel would. Stay next door!!!

We plan to go back in the fall

My band of brothers just held our military reunion at the Ocean Plaza Beach Resort. It was our first time to hold it there but we liked it so much we are working with them on dates for next year. It was so relaxing for us to be in Tybee Island and at this hotel in particular. Some of the guys never left the hotel property, except to walk on the beach. They had everything they needed, which were great rooms and a fair price, a restaurant serving the best in food and drink, and plenty of room for us guys to get together and talk about old times and catch up each other with our family and medical news. For our reunion function on Saturday night the hotel took care of our every need and did it sincerely. That have good people working there and their attentiveness makes a difference for the guests. I will be back at the Ocean Plaza next fall for our next reunion, that is for sure.

Great Place In Tybee Island

My husband and I just stayed at the Ocean Plaza while on a trip down south looking for a place where we can be snow birds later this winter. We certainly found a great place in Tybee Island, GA. We will be spending at least a month or two there because we liked it so much. Our stay at the Ocean Plaza while we looked at rental properties was just perfect. We liked everything about this hotel. My favorite was being able to walk a few steps and be on the beach. My husbands favorite was the showers with such good water pressure and being able to walk next door to their restaurant for dinner instead of having to get back in the car to drive somewhere. I also liked the size of the rooms. They were much larger than most hotels these days. We also appreciate the free parking. It was the only hotel on our trip that did not clip us for parking charges. If you're considering a get-away down south this winter, give Tybee Island and the Ocean Plaza Beach Resort a try. We hope you like it as much as we did.

I Would Go Back

Our scouting group stayed at the Ocean Plaza Beach Resort and all the parents and kids were very pleased with this hotel. Our purpose to visit Tybee was for the scouts to do a beach and marsh ecology project and Tybee is a great place to do this. We were all pleased that the hotel also allowed both the kids and parents to have a good time. The hotel is on the beach. Only a small parking lot and some sand dunes separate it from the beach an ocean. Some parents were able sit on their balcony and watch their kids play on the beach without having to be on the beach themselves. We liked that and couldn't do that just anywhere. We also liked the restaurant next door for our meals. Some parents even rented bikes to stroll around and see the island. The cordial hotel staff told us how and where to rent the bikes, along with giving us other advice and directions. I would go back to Tybee Island and the Ocean Plaza again without a doubt.

Perfect Hotel on Tybee Island

I attended a friend's Tybee Island beach wedding with was held on the beach outside the Ocean Plaza Beach Resort. The wedding party and most of the out of town guests stayed at the Ocean Plaza. We could not have been more pleased. Not only did the hotel do an outstanding job with the arrangements for my friend's wedding, they took care of our of our needs as well. The food was delicious. The rooms were large and comfortable with great showers and water pressure. The hotel employees were very helpful with directions and local recommendations. Tybee Island is a great out of the way place to visit and the Ocean Plaza Beach resort seems to me to be the perfect hotel to stay in when you go there.

Would stay at this hotel again without hesitation

We stayed at the Ocean Plaza during the Rock and Roll Marathon weekend and had a really enjoyable stay. I would stay at this hotel again without hesitation. The location on the beach near the pier is perfect. There is free parking. The rooms are large and comfortable. They have an excellent restaurant next door. The hotel staff was most helpful with local recommendations and directions. The weekend we stayed there the hotel was sold out but it was still quiet and the service was still great. Many hotels could not have dealt with a sell-out as smoothly as this one did and it made our stay more pleasant. Next time I go back to Tybee Island there is no doubt in my mind that I will stay at the Ocean Plaza Beach Resort.

Avoid this hotel at all costs!!!

A friend and I stayed at Ocean Plaza hotel on Tybee Island for a single night. In the middle of the night, police showed up claiming that they could smell weed from our room and requested searching it. It was strange since neither of us smoke cigarettes or weed. When leaving the hotel, we saw many of the hotel's other guest's room being searched and guests arrested. A day or so after checking out, we realized that the hotel had over-charged, well over $400.00 for the single night. If you value your privacy, money, or rights as an American citizen, choose a different hotel or island all together.

Quite a Discovery - Plan to Go Back!

The Ocean Plaza Beach Resort is quite a discovery. I plan to go back. I was just able to stay for a couple of nights on a business trip this week but I liked everything about this hotel. I especially liked being able to stroll the beach right outside my room at night and in the morning. What a way to wind down from a day's work or to get energized for another day. Some people have posted complaints about this hotel having a parking lot between the hotel and beach. Believe me, it's not a large one and it's not a problem. It's just a few yards to walk across pavement. Thankfully, Tybee Island doesn't allow hotels to be built right on the beach. I like that. I also like the sand dunes on the beach. I read that some people complained about those too. The staff at this hotel was very helpful to me and I want management to know that I appreciate them being so.

Hidden Gem

Just a quick and easy 20 minute drive outside of historic Savannah, what a nice surprise to find the friendly Ocean Plaza Hotel, with its beautiful beaches and ample parking. The staff was as professional as a Ritz Carlton team and the food was surprisingly good! There is lots to do for the whole family, including the mini aquarium, the pier, and tons of restaurants and shops. My friends from Arkansas loved the buffet and the bar was hoppin' and fun at night. The most memorable aspect of the hotel was the graciousness of the staff - everyone from management to front desk to housekeeping. We will definitely be returning as this makes a great weekend get away. Highly recommend.

I highly recommend it

Our church youth group stayed at this hotel last weekend and I wanted to let everyone know about how good it is. First, it's like going back in time to a slower, quieter, family-oriented vacation community. I have not seem a place like Tybee Island and the Ocean Plaza in a long time. It's quite, safe, and a perfect place for young people to get out and enjoy nature. The hotel staff was very patient with all of us and the million questions we asked. Our rooms were much larger than we usually get in the chain hotels. Plus, this hotel overlooks the beach and the Atlantic Ocean so it's a perfect playground for teenagers. I have already shared information about the Ocean Plaza with other churches in our area. I highly recommend it.
