Raintrees Club Regina Puerto Vallarta, Puerto Vallarta

If you want to party - go somewhere in the center of the city. If you want to relax - stay here. Beautiful grounds, just gorgeous! The Royal Beach Club is the way to go! You get top floor ocean view rooms, you get daily breakfast in a special 12th floor lounge, happy hour (all drinks and appertizers) from 5-7 included. This was well worth the extra $20 a night!!!

The hotel property is beautiful. It was easy to get taxis for touring the city. The food was good. Some of the staff were friendly, but getting service around the pool wasn't easy when you just wanted to relax. If you go to the beach, be ready for the vendors trying to sell beads and tshirts. The rooms have a fabulous view and you can watch cruise ships coming into port, so I was expecting more with the rooms. The rooms have a high humidity level and it was like you couldn't get things dry. The so called heavenly beds had sheets that felt damp making it difficult to sleep. Even the papers and magazines felt kind of wet. The bathroom didn't have a fan, so the mirrors always fogged up when you took a shower. The floors were like a rough concrete so didn't seem very comfortable to walk around the room barefoot. I didn't realize the information area in the lobby is really for the club/timeshare, so don't start asking too many questions of the people at the information desk - they want you to check out that information instead. All in all, it's a nice place, maybe dehumidiers for the rooms would make it better.

This was one of the best hotels that I have been to I took my children also and they had a great time - I cannot wait to go back again. I love it....

Stayed this Feb 2006. Great hotel and service. Food and drink can be very expensive, particularly by the pool. First class gym (5 dollars a visit). All staff very helpful. Our room was on the Starwwod floor, and was first class. Great balcony, the heavenly shower was "heavenly", and the room was spotless every day. Only complaint the room can become a little humid. We will definately be back next year.

We've been to the Westin in PV about 4 times, and will go again in April. All rooms have fantastic views and the town is fantastic.

I loved the Westin Regina. I came to know this place through a time share with my family. And I couldnt have asked for a better place to stay during my week long trip. Our Condo was perfected located just above the palm tree line, so we could see the ships sailing off in the ocean, and sun rises and sun sets really beautiful. The rooms were extremely clean, plush beds,the balcony has a jacuzi on it which I fully intend on using when I go back.I loved how in the evening there were always activities going on.They have scuba diving, and parasaling right on the beach in front of the hotel. My only con would be the food, it wasnt all that stellar but I will deal with that to stay in that place. I am dreaming of when I go back.

While on the same trip to Puerto Vallarta, we also stayed at the Sheraton - so using that as a reference point... I liked the Westin much better. The Westin's rooms were much smaller (and had a very very hard concrete floor), but also very cozy and homey; there was not as much of a Mexican influence on the furnishings and decor of the room. The bathroom, on the other hand, was huge, which a separate tub and shower. All rooms seemed to have a small balcony over-looking the ocean. The grounds here are beautiful - all lush landscaping around the several pools. On our visit, the pools were very crowded, so we didn't venture in, and instead spent some time in the nice spa facilities. Marina Vallarta was a different feel from the Sheraton - it's a pocket of Puerto Vallarta that seemed to be row after row of resorts. Consequently, we found food prices to be more expensive at the Westin (and surrounding restaurants) than we did closer to downtown. While timeshares are a part of the property, this is the one place where we weren't approached to take a tour - a nice change! The Westin is also conveiently located near the airport, so if you're planning on staying put at the resort for awhile, there's no need to rent a car.

The Westin Hotel shares grounds and pools with the Club Regina timeshare. Pool and beach are subject to loud disc-jockies and disco music. Room and food were good and spa facilities were excellent although spa services were average. Club Regina hounds you to listen to their sales pitch. Probably better for families than couples looking for a relaxing environment.

I will start with the good: nice pool and nice dual head shower. However, the service on the last day was in one word; tacky!! Before check out time, we had three knocks on our door (disturbances). First one, housekeeping, second, the mini-bar attendant(note: coffee maker is included, but not the coffee), third and last straw, the exterminator to spray for bugs. I felt I was accomodating them by the end of my stay! Who has heard of the exterminator or courtesy bar taking count while you are in the room? We advise the Marriott/Casamagna down the road as the much nicer and less expensive way to go!!! Very nice staff and very accomodating to their clients, not the other way around.
