Hotel Grand Pacific, Victoria

My daughter Sarah Ann Howells had her wedding reception here, which we paid for. She now goes by the name Sarah Baxndall. She is happily married to Brad Baxandall and has just had baby Noah. Just wanted to say thankyou to all of the staff and coodinators that helped make their day so special. Our inlaws Carol and Percy Baxandall stay here regularly as a result of such superior service. We arrived late for check-in and they bumped us back for 2 hours. When we arrived at our room, the beds were messy and the room was very dusty. The television was broken and the food there was over-priced and horrible. The location was fun and provided much to do for children.

The Hotel Grand Pacific is in a very nice location. It is right next to the Parliament Building and the museum and across the street from the water. To me the service was not adequate. I had called one week prior to check in and requested an early check in. When I arrived at the hotel at 4PM which was one hour after normal check in, the room was not ready. I was not offered to have my bags stored so that I can walk around and enjoy the nice weather outside. Instead I waited at the lobby for an hour. It wasn't until much much later did someone from the reception area offered a drink for my inconvenience. I would not come back to this hotel.

All staff were extremely friendly and attentive!! I would come back again! From Check in to the banquet everything was great, Our food was amazing to!

We just visited the Grand Pacific Hotel in August 2006, and were very disappointed in our room accommodations. We were told the hotel was a 5 star hotel with all suite rooms, which they were not and in my opinion the hotel is more like a 4 star hotel. The shower was weak with the water constantly changing from hot to cold during your shower. The room was a lot smaller than expected (definately not a suite) and the bed was as hard as a rock. Since they were fully booked we couldn't change rooms so I can't speak to whether all the rooms were like ours. The pool was olympic size but full of kids jumping from the whirlpool to the lap pool making it difficult to do laps. On the positive side, the staff was friendly, the room was clean and the location was excellent, but for the price we paid I expected a larger room with more up-to-date and comfortable bedding and a much better shower.

If you are arriving by Ferry this is the very best location. Excellent walking location and view location also. The rooms are rather average but adequate.....the grandiose outside is not reflected in all the rooms. Making our reservations over a month in advance, I wish they could do more to honor requested views. The staff is extremely pleasant and helpful.....they had plenty of reason to get to know us as our toilet overflowed the first night.....the hair dryer burned out the second and the toilet was plugged again on the second morning......at this point, due to our inconvenience, they decided to move us to a suite on the 7th floor.....I probably would have rather just had some money back, however since we no longer had access to a bathroom there was no choice but to move.....and oh my what a move.....if you can afford such a room that is where you see the "real" Grand.......it was a corner suite with amazing views....the Parliament building at night from this location was magnificient......it was difficult to leave the balconies (yes, two of them) to go to bed that night.....and in the morning it was just as wonderful.......with flushing toilets even!!!

Our stay was wonderful from beginning to end, your hotel and staff could not have been nicer. we can hardly wait to return. Thank you .

We spent 5 days in Victoria and stayed 4 nights at the Grand Pacific. When I return it would be the place I would want to stay. Close to everything including the whale watching trips. Don't miss the chance to see the amazing Orcas. It's truely a site you will never forget.

We chose to spend a couple days in Victoria over the thanksgiving holidays. The hotel choice was made because we wanted a place reasonably priced with atmosphere and closeness to the shopping district. The help given was excellent and unobtrusive. We had a good time.

For the kid in everyone (including kids) this hotel has a swimming pool and hot tub, as well as a work out room. And for all the kids out there that enjoy riding the elevator, merely for the pleasure of going up and down and taking in the view (like the big kid writing this review, aged 23), the elevators offer a wonderful views of the marina and surrounding area...but you have to go all the way up; the practical side of all the big kids out here will appreciate the decor of the elevator as they are they are paneled in dark, rich wood. Adults and children both will appreciate the Hotel Grand Pacific as it is the picture of luxury with marble floors and chandeliers and lovely sitting areas near the entrance. There is also a restaurant inside for your dining pleasure. If you prefer to dine out (withing walking distance) there are several fine restaurants located nearby. Situated close to the marina, the Hotel Grand Pacific is within walking distance of British Columbia's Parliament, the Empress Hotel as well as the Royal British Museum, and there is wax museum across the street. Near the marina, on a sunny day, street vendors will vend touristy items too, if that interests you. The beds are comfortable and a good nights sleep is assured. Housekeeping is excellent (the rooms are kept quite clean) and they will keep your toiletry needs met. Room service is also offered to those who prefer to stay in. Highly recommended for the tourist, the family, or newly weds.
