Questioning Loyalty to Holiday Inn
By West Michigan, 07/07/09
No problem checking in. We arrived two hours after the 4:00pm check-in. When we got to our room, there were no towels or the rollaway we requested when we made our reservation, which, by the way, was two weeks prior to our arrival...rollaway should have been in the room when we arrived. When we called the front desk, she stated that she knew some of the rooms did not have towels because they "don't have enough". She said she would have housekeeping bring some to our room, which they promptly did along with the rollaway. The towels were warm and apparently just came out of the dryer but they were dirty and stained. One of them had dirt or grease all over it...used that one on the dirty tile floor in the bathroom. The other towels had yellow stains all over them. There was coffee slopped down the wall in the bathroom where the waste basket sat. There was a pool of urine along the side of the toilet. The carpet was not vacuumed next to the mini frig where the other waste basket sat...crumbs everywhere. The carpet on our private balcony was stained and covered with mildew. The rollaway was horrible...the mattress was nothing more than a crib mattress...not suitable for an adult or a large child. It was not worth the extra $10 we paid for it. The mattresses on the two queen beds were definately not Holiday Inn quality...old and worn out. The springs were sticking out the side of one of the mattresses. The room had not been dusted. We could actually write our names in the dust where the tv sat. The hallways were filthy...looked like they had not been vacuumed in weeks. It was cold and rainy during our stay so we tried to use the heater in the room. When we turned it on, the years of dust inside of it started to burn and we had to open the window and the door to the balcony to get rid of the smell. We never were able to use the heater. The worst part about our stay was the paper-thin doors and walls...could hear people out in the hallway and in the room next to ours. This place definately is not Holiday Inn material. We have always stayed at Holiday Inn because we have always been able to count on a clean room, plush towels, sound-proof walls, and comfortable beds. We're not sure what happened here...not the Holiday Inn quality we know and are used to. Won't stay here again. Next time, we'll do a little more research and not rely on the Holiday Inn name as a guarantee for a clean and comfortable room.
