Questioning Loyalty to Holiday Inn
By West Michigan, 07/07/09
No problem checking in. We arrived two hours after the 4:00pm check-in. When we got to our room, there were no towels or the rollaway we requested when we made our reservation, which, by the way, was two weeks prior to our arrival...rollaway should have been in the room when we arrived. When we called the front desk, she stated that she knew some of the rooms did not have towels because they "don't have enough". She said she would have housekeeping bring some to our room, which they promptly did along with the rollaway. The towels were warm and apparently just came out of the dryer but they were dirty and stained. One of them had dirt or grease all over it...used that one on the dirty tile floor in the bathroom. The other towels had yellow stains all over them. There was coffee slopped down the wall in the bathroom where the waste basket sat. There was a pool of urine along the side of the toilet. The carpet was not vacuumed next to the mini frig where the other waste basket sat...crumbs everywhere. The carpet on our private balcony was stained and covered with mildew. The rollaway was horrible...the mattress was nothing more than a crib mattress...not suitable for an adult or a large child. It was not worth the extra $10 we paid for it. The mattresses on the two queen beds were definately not Holiday Inn quality...old and worn out. The springs were sticking out the side of one of the mattresses. The room had not been dusted. We could actually write our names in the dust where the tv sat. The hallways were filthy...looked like they had not been vacuumed in weeks. It was cold and rainy during our stay so we tried to use the heater in the room. When we turned it on, the years of dust inside of it started to burn and we had to open the window and the door to the balcony to get rid of the smell. We never were able to use the heater. The worst part about our stay was the paper-thin doors and walls...could hear people out in the hallway and in the room next to ours. This place definately is not Holiday Inn material. We have always stayed at Holiday Inn because we have always been able to count on a clean room, plush towels, sound-proof walls, and comfortable beds. We're not sure what happened here...not the Holiday Inn quality we know and are used to. Won't stay here again. Next time, we'll do a little more research and not rely on the Holiday Inn name as a guarantee for a clean and comfortable room.

I'll will NOT go back!!
By Get over it, 06/14/09
I requested and early checkin and when I got there at 2pm I was rudely told by the front desk clerk that my room was still dirty and it would be at least an hour and a half before I could have my keys, but they checked me in anyway. I had just spent 5 hours in the car and wanted to get my stuff in the room before heading over to the Island. Once we finally got into our room at 8pm we couldn't get our keys to work in the door, and had to have Maintenance help us out. It turns out you have to go at snail speed to get the door open and even then it wouldn't always work! (it took us on avg. 8 tries to get the door open) , there were bleach stains on both the blankets at the end of the bed, one of the blankets had blue sucker remains (GROSS!!!), the room wasn't dusted or vacuumed very well, my pillow case had makeup stains on it from another guest (made me wonder if they even changed the pillow case), the mirror in the bathroom looked like it had mold growing on it, there were stains on the bathroom ceiling, they used blue electrical tape to hide ripping border wallpaper towards the ceiling, the actually wallpaper or plaster was coming off in the corner behind the door to the room, our night stand was sticky, the tray the ice bucket was on was extremely sticky and still wet from someone else's juice (when you tried lifting the plastic sign and cups off the tray they took the tray with them), and the floor lamp looked as if something had spilled on it. there was candy wrappers and loads of dust behind the night stand (and along the walls) which we discovered when plugging in our cell phones. and to top it off the bed skirt on one bed was really long on one side and extremely short on the other, and one of the beds wasn't even made properly. the blankets weren't tucked in all the way and the pillows were just thrown on. When I called down to the desk they were like well do you me to send up housekeeping. I refused b/c I was extremely tired and just wanted to relax. Then when we went down for breakfast @ 8:20 am (which we didn't eat) they were out of food left and right so we went out for breakfast both days. Now I work for a HIE, and the property I work for has really clean and nice looking rooms and my coworkers treat everyone with respect. And if a guest wants to check in early we do everything we can to accommodate that guest (even if it is two hours before checkin) and if we don't have a clean room we call housekeeping and get them in that room asap! and it is on rare occasion that we run out of food and when we are really busy we have two people in that breakfast area restocking and cooking food. The service I received was unacceptable and it shouldn't matter if I am an HIE employee or not I am still a guest at that hotel and the friend I was with was not an employee and she was disgusted by the room as well.

Very uncomfortable old mattresses
By Michele, 09/02/08
We check out early and got a new hotel on the water for a few dollars more, but the mattresses didn't sag

Great Hotel for the money
By Eva, 06/26/08
We stayed at the Holiday Inn for two nights. We booked it with a Mackinac Island package which included two arnold ferry tickets, two tickets to the butterfly conservatory, two tickets to the fort, and two horse-drawn carriage tickets. It was a really great deal considering two tickets to the Island cost $50. The free breakfast was the best we've had so far. It included cheese omelets, sausage, biscuits and gravy and donuts. My one complaint is that the room was called a "bridge view room." There was a tree blocking the entire window and even if it wasn't there, you would not be able to see the bridge. So, no romantic views in this hotel but it is a good one if you are on a budget.

This is a great hotel!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/23/05
We've stayed here twice. We loved it. The continental breakfast is wonderful and it's not so "continental". They accomodated our dog we had with us by giving us a first floor room. The rates are better here than at other Holiday Inn Expresses we've stayed at. We'll definitely go back again.

We loved it. We will be back. Very comfortable. The staff was wonderful. Very helpful. Especially staff worker Sharon. Gave us ideas to visit and great places to eat. Your breakfast was delicious. One of the nicest and cleanest places we have ever stayed.

Great Romantic Getaway
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/19/05
The Holiday Inn Express at the Bridge is very nice. We have stayed there 3 times in the last two years. Mackinaw is one of our favorite week-end get aways. We have always stayed on the 4th floor in a suite. They have a large jacuzzi tub that easily accomodates two. Fire Place, balcony that overlooks the bridge, two restrooms in the suite, a livingroom, mini kitchen area, 4 T.V's (livingroom, each restroom & bedroom) and a very nice bedroom. They also have the most comprehensive continental breakfast I have ever had. The location is a little funky, you do have to drive to get to downtown Mackinaw. Just a very nice place for a romantic get away.

Great rates! Great place!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/19/05
This is a very clean, friendly hotel. We go to Mackinaw every October and have stayed at many hotels. This has been a favorite. The pool area is nice and water is comfortably warm. The front desk staff was very helpful when my young son cut his finger, getting us bandages and such. To top off everything, they had great rates!
