Description

You will believe in love at first sight when you walk into the lobby of the Cadillac Hotel. The amazing art deco designs in this hotel spread into the rooms upstairs. It is clear from the lampshades and the black-and-white tile that the Cadillac believes in detail. It first opened in 1905 and soon after became the summer home for Charlie Chaplin. All of the rooms are clearly as charming as your first look at the lobby. It is priced fairly for the easy walk to Venice and the delightful surroundings that include incredible sunsets over the Pacific Ocean.

Night on the Beach
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/7/09
Location was great! Clean & open room with recent remodel? Very nice bathroom/shower. Pleasant, comfortable bed (short sheeted, so had to remake). Comfy table & 2-chairs by window with view of ocean & strand. Nice wall mounted television. Pleasant staff. Parking was only $10 extra & close by. Extra charge for WiFi & no other internet access. No freezer in fridge but a nice roomy little fridge. No microwave easily available for guests. Willing to safely store bikes, boogie boards, etc. so no need to keep in room. Noise from neighboring bar/restaurant interfered with sleep past 1 a.m.... Great place for price.

Get It While the Getting is Good!
By Jesse, 3/15/08
My brother and I took a 3 month long road trip across the country. We tried to stay at the most economical properties we could find, needless to say, we stayed in some pretty scary places. Neither of us had ever been to Venice, so that is where we ended the trip. We never thought we would find an economical place DIRECTLY ON THE BEACH! For the price, and from our past experiences, we were not suprised or scared off by the other reviews. I don't know when the other reviewers stayed at the property, but it was by the far the best place we stayed at during our trip. The rooms had all been recently redone, flat screen t.v.s, mini bars, killer bathrooms, etc... Yeah, Venice has some homeless people and some drug addicts, but that's Venice! I mean the Cadillac is Right On the Beach! We ended up staying two extra nights! Trust me, from my experience the owners will soon raise the rates, stay while you can.

Book a renovated sea view room... Awesome!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/14/08
We came down from San Fran for an Xmas shopping trip but wanted to stay by the beach. All the Hotels in Santa Monica were way above 400 dollars but the Cadillac was below 200 and we even got a sea view. A massive saving and it's only 5 minutes away! The staff were excellent for the whole stay. Right from the management to the maids. Unusual in this day and age, the service industry isn't what it used to be. The hotel is being renovated but the new rooms are modern, stylish and incredibly comfortable. If you want great value for money and a decent launching pad into LA for shopping then this is the spot. We will certainly be bringing our family down in the summer for a vacation. Regards to all at the Cadillac.

The Cadillac is back!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/13/08
We have been visiting Venice for over 30 years now and have always stayed at our favorite hotel in the world, The Cadillac. There is a definite charm about this place that remains from the roaring 20's. I mean let's face it, it's hard to find buildings that are over a 100 years old in the US! If it was good enough for Charlie Chaplin then it's good enough for us! We stayed a newly renovated room with a sea view and we thought it was simply magic. It has looked tired for the past few years but that is all changing rapidly and so is Venice. No complaints at all though, we're just pleased we know about this place and are excited by the fact that it's being given a remodel. The views from the roof are second to none and the atmosphere on the boardwalk at the weekends is electric. We're just wishing the summer would come quicker. To all the wonderful staff, thank you for making are stay so pleasant as usual. As ever.. we will be back!!

BEYOND BAD...
By suzanneo, 7/10/06
Fantasitic location shame about everything else. This is not a hotel. the nicest people there are the hotel maids.... Disgusting, run down filthy rooms, no a/c at ALL, no locks on most windows, no blinds on some. Parking a nightmare... The 1st review says it all.....and then some. Drunks yelling, running, slamming doors and screaming in the hallway at all hours in the night..and that includes the neighboring buildings too we did not get much sleep. Customer Service doesn't exist unless you are annoying and then it is with distain.

YUCK!
By valarie, 8/23/05
The staff was very nice, except for when i went to my truck to retrieve some items, desk manager happened to be in the parking lot & told me over & over again that i was going to get towed. when he finally shut up i told him i was a guest in his hotel & he said "very well then" & walked away. THIS HOTEL IS DIRTY. *the hallways & all around the building smelled like urine. *the staircase banisters were filthy, don't touch them. *the door to our room was numbered with a sharpie marker & had (non-threatening) graffitti on the door AND the wobbly door knobs were regular household type with normal keys, NO DEADBOLTS. Plus there was a lot of play between the door & the threshhold. *the smoke alarm had been removed from the wall. *no fire escape plan on the door like normal hotels. *carpet in room & throughout hallways were filthy. don't walk on them barefoot. *they leave maintenence & construction supplies out in the open. *lounge & sauna were closed when we stayed. *toilet's had to be flushed 4 times to get anything to go down. *see through sheets, 2" pillows,& could feel the springs in the matresses. *a couple of mini-soaps, NO washcloths, & only 1 small old towel per person. *there is a "dummy" phone in the room that will not work even when plugged into appropriate socket. can't call front desk if you need to. *tv had 27 stations, 3 weren't snowy & no remote. homeless drug addicts made lots of ruckus throughout the nite, had to close window and the a/c did not work. sucked. too bad, i really wanted to like this place. v.rosa

Good for homeless!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/12/05
Ok, you do not want to go there, the neighbourhood is crawling with homeless and druggies. The hotel has not been paint or cleaned for 20 years, the windows do not close... ... ... And for 110$ a night you get seriously rubbed. Forget it it's infected!
