Marco Polo Inn, Niagara Falls

We booked this motel because it was part of a chain we had heard of and thought we could rely on it having a certain minimum quality and because the rate was better than rates we could find at other cheap motel chains in the Niagara Falls area. Although it is not right near the falls, it was a very short and convenient drive to get there or you could easily walk to the falls in about 10 or 15 minutes (but there is a steep couple of uphill blocks on the way back). We were pleasantly suprised with the motel. It was a lot better than I was expecting and a lot better than minimum quality. The rooms were plenty big and clean. They had good beds. There was a lot of water pressure in the shower. Plenty of parking. Ice machine with free ice. Cable TV with about 30 or 40 channels. They had a nice little patio just outside the front desk with some outdoor chairs and tables. The weather had just gotten cooler when we were there and it was nice to sit outside when eating snacks. There was a small pool outside and my 7 year old son and 11 year old son both had a great time playing in the pool. Drawbacks -- they had only small bars of soap and tiny packets of shampoo in the bathroom. The air conditioning did not cool as much as I would like. The towels were not very cushy. The room did not have enough places to plug things in.
