Love Paris, must rethink hotel location

Romantic Paris it is not. The neighborhood needed a good wash.
The hotel staff was great. Our double bed room was tidy, tight and clean. The bed was surprisingly comfortable. Air circulation seemed to be a problem and the room was extremely stuffy. We left the widow open as often as we could. The train station is near by and the noise did not bother us too much. The alarms and sirens from the fire station, next door, had a bigger impact.
We would not recommend the breakfast; unless you enjoy all you can eat cereal, croissant and yoghurt. We preferred the bakery near the train station, and snacking along our walks.
We were able to walk to Montmarte and its surroundings in one day; another day to Opera and the Laffette Galerries. We took the metro to the Arc de Triomphe and Tour Eiffel one evening.
We would recommend the hotel to backpackers and budget conscience couples.
