Description

The Sukhothai is unusual for many reasons but principally for its location: in the middle of a six-acre estate of scenic gardens in the diplomatic and business heart of Bangkok! In this oasis of calm, the hotel is reminiscent of Siam's regal past. Most of the rooms and suites overlook an inner courtyard of gardens and ponds. The bathrooms, with floors of teak, are of such size as to put many an hotel bedroom to shame! The hospitality, service and comfort are steeped in graceful tradition. As a guest, be it on business or for pleasure, the modern facilities are superb. Four restaurants await your pleasure: Celadon, set amongst lotus ponds, serves authentic Thai food; the poolside Terrazzo offers Italian fare; Colonnade is famous for its Sunday jazz brunch and, in Noppamas, you will find no finer French cuisine in Asia. Fitness and sports facilities include a fully equipped health club and a 25-metre pool.

The art of the perfection !
I am working in the High End Fashion industry since 1991, I spend my life traveling every 2 weeks from East to West. Among the 5 stars hotels I stayed, The Sukhothai is far the Best! La creme de la creme... I was invited for the Grand Opening back to 1993 I guess? It was love at first sight! It's my second home, I know all the staff and vice versa. I recommend to all of my friends, they all fall in love with the art of the perfection of the Sukhothai! Thomas Chanthaphasouk, Tommy Hilfiger Production Director

Wonderful hotel at a good location
By ,
The Sukhothai is a business-oriented hotel, with a more central location than those on the riverfront. The rooms are appointed in traditional Thai style and pretty luxurious. This used to be my hotel of choice when I travelled to Bangkok for business.

My second home
By ,
I have stayed here many times, and it always feels like coming home. Having spent weeks all over SE Asia arriving here is like coming into a tranquill sanctuary, where the staff remember you and the service is of a consistantly high standard. Calmness and peace belies the efficiency and speed of service. The swiming pool is lovley and a great temperature in the am before breakfast. The Celadon(Thai) and Italian restaurant are world class standard. The rooms are modern chic Thai inspired. Some areas of the hotel have been recently updated, the Zuk bar and Collonade Breakfast area, which has maintained the fresh feel of the place. I would highly recomend it to the weary business traveller who has been shlepping round SE Asia.

Silky sleek
By ,
Or sleekly silk. Handsome building. Beautifully fitted rooms where you are loathe to leave your own belongings scattered about lest it destroy the sleek lines of the woods and silks. Great bathrooms. A long and deep and rectangular pool that is great for swimming. Beaming staff. Great room service. Why can't the rest of the world's hotels be more like this?

Absolute Perfection
By ,
We traveled to Bangkok and did extensive research on hotels. We were torn between the Sukhothai and The Oriental. We were so pleased at the attention to detail at the Sukhothai. The staff was amazing and the rooms were beautiful as well as the manicured grounds. We stayed in a cabana room...all teak and thai silk.
We suggest this hotel to anyone who expects a little more...and though the price is more than you will pay for most great hotels in Bangkok..it is worth every penny.

Chocolates at the Sukhothai!
By ,
We were very pleased that the Sukhothai was among the choices we were offered during our last trip to Bangkok. I had stayed at the Oriental in the past. But this time, the Sukhothai came highly recommended.
And it was well worth it!
The service was excellent and unobstrusive. I appreciated the fact that although the staff was conscious of security, they were very discreet. The room was like a spa in itself but i tried the hotel spa as well. The treatment was thorough and leaning towards the traditional. The therapist was warm, considerate and competent. (Earlier this year, i had tried the spa at Pathumwan Princess Hotel and was very impressed at the more cosmopolitan choices offered me - what were my preferred scents for the body salt rub, the massage oil? The more traditional spa at the Sukhothai asked no such questions.)
Back to the room, the bed was soft but firm, the television & other amenities easy to operate, the room secure. And - wonder of wonders! - every evening, when the bed had been turned down, a mind-reading Thai fairy left six wonderful truffles for me!!! (Oh yes, there were different fruit baskets laid out daily - just like in the Shang - but chocolate IS the extra mile!).
Needless to say, I will be back.

The Best of Bangkok
Though not as well known as the Oriental or Regent, the Sukothai is the best hotel in Bangkok. The rooms are fantastic. The service may be the best in the world and the food is phenomenal. Having lived in Bangkok for 5 years, I've seen all the places and when I travel back, this is the place I stay.
