What a horrible experience
We were driving from Florida to Michigan & we were gonna try to drive straight thru without stopping. We drove into some heavy rain & fog & we decided to pull off because visibility was bad. We had our mother & children with us & they needed someplace to rest so we decided to get them a room at this Days Inn while the rest of us were already asleep in the back of the van. We carried the children up to the room & got them & mother settled. We were using the bathroom up in the room we just paid for & my sister was down in the van making up our bed when she called us from her cell phone & said 2 police cars had pulled into the parking lot. I looked out the window to see what was happening when the woman who checked us in & 2 police officers come knocking at the door. I answered & the woman said there were to many people in the room. I told her we were getting our Mother & children settled & using the bathroom Then we would be sleeping in our bed in our van. She said that was not acceptable & we either had to pay for another room or vacate now. We did not want to pay for another room because we had a bed in our van. We were told to leave and we only got half of our money back for a room we were only in less than an hour. I packed my sleeping children back into the van. I argued that we deserved a full refund but she refused & we finally left. Driving conditions were horrible so we pulled into a gas station parking lot & slept there for two hours until daylight. In all the years we have been traveling I have never experienced anything close to this & I certainly will not stop at another Days Inn.
