Lakefront Motor Lodge, Taupo

My wife and I travel from Australia every couple of years to the Lakefront Motor Lodge. We found the Motel by accident after just really dropping into NZ and spending two weeks. We have never experienced the benefits of the NZ mineral water before but my wife who suffers from an annoying skin condition and for decades has used all sorts of prescription creams and health food potions has never been able to clean up her skin. HOWEVER!!!!! After 1 week, once to twice a day for about 1 hour in our own spa, her skin had cleared up. Thats why we are going back. If you want a 5 star resort, this is not the place. It is a very comfortable, clean, tidy and friendly place. If you are thinking of going to Taupo as a couple, I would recommend you get a Studio Mineral Pool Room. The spa is at the back door the last time we went and you have a little privacy, but dont be thinking that you can go stolling around the place naked. These owners rate themselves at 3 stars. I would say that is fair, but we go there for the health benefits and not all of the gold plated taps. Also, the motel is really close to a great pub or was, not sure if the pub is still there. Just walk up the hill and have a great meal by an open fire and wander back to the motel. Try it.... you will go back.
