it looks brand new
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/12/06
we stayed in building one renovated unit. It is very nice. The pools 9indoor & outdoor) were great for the kids. But the best part is the beach and the lack of congestion. I'll go back there again.

Needs some work
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/2/05
Last year was the 2nd time (in 4 years) that we stayed at the St. Regis and we left there with the attitude that we will not be returning. The place felt like it needed a some fixing up in 2001 and it REALLY felt that way in 2004. Our elevator door would constantly be stuck open, so we would take the stairs (or hike to another elevator). The condo itself had cheap furnishings and needed new carpet and appliances. It also got to be a drag to have to drive 15-20 minutes for a meal (unless you wanted to go upstairs and pay out the nose for a so-so dinner). Also, there has been a lot of new homes constructed on Topsail the last few years and it has taken away some of the exclusive feel of the area. You can do a lot better than staying at the St. Regis.

We won't go Back!
By NHSTeacher, 10/3/05
St. Regis Resort should not really even be allowed to be called a resort. It does not fit the image at all. We took our family there in August of 2005 and were extrememly disappointed. The buildings are very run down with paint peeling from the ceilings in all the outdoor areas. The elevators are filthy and our door was completely rusted over. The unit we stayed in had three acess doors to the patio. One of them was a steel door from the kid's room with a hole in the bottom of it that you could actually see through.Every time we opened or shut the door, rust fell onto the carpet. The sliding door in our bedroom did not slide and there were no screens so whenever we tried to hear the ocean our unit filled with flies. We were supposed to be ocean front but there was a parking lot and a building for the indoor pool between us and the ocean. All of our sinks leaked and the bathroom towel rack fell off the first time we tried to hang a towel on it. The chairs on the balcony were so old and rusted that they were dangerous. We had to store them in the closet so the children did not get hurt. When we called to complain, the office was closed. It was also closed the following day (Sunday). We left a message but noone bothered to call us back. When we finally go ahold of someone we were assured that everything would be fixed. Noone ever showed up until two days before we left and they simply brought four plastic deck chairs. Nothing was fixed, not even the door with the hole. We were told that noone else had ever complained about it. The pool ladder fell off and my daughter retrieved the bottom step and screws. There was noone to give them to because it seems that noone really works here. The staff are not identifiable like at other resorts I have been to. Mostly they stand around smoking, wearing cut off short shorts and looking very unprofessional. If you want to go to this area, go an hour south to Holden Beach and check out the beautiful homes and condos there with Hobbs Realty, Alan Holden Vacations, or Coastal Vacation Resorts. It is much more beautiful, more affordable, and you get a better stay for the money. This is where we usually go and where we will be going back to from now on.

Perfect Family Beach Vacation
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/11/06
We spent a week at the St. Regis last August and I must say our vacation was simply wonderful. Our 3 bedroom condo was very clean and well equipped. In fact, the entire unit was recently renovated, including the doors and windows. The amenities were great (our kids loved the indoor pool and hot tub!), and you couldn't beat having two restaurants and a convenience store on site! The best part though was the view from the balcony (just yards from the beach) and the beach itself. It wasn't crowded at all and the sand was beautiful. I'd definitely recommend the St. Regis. I know we'll be back!

St Regis Resort... if you want to call it that
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/22/11
Wow, I'm not even sure where to start. This was the first year that our family had gone anywhere else other than OBX and I don't see us going back. The beach itself wasn't bad. It wasn't very crowded and was pretty clean which is far more than I can say for the the "resort". The first night that we got there there as we were carrying all our groceries up to the room we saw not one but two cockroaches in the elevator which were gross enough for us but scared our daughter half to death since were were in the elevator and couldn't get out as the things were crawling towards her. Me being an optimist thought that maybe just maybe they were some kind of beach bug or something and since it was an outside elevator maybe it would be an isolated incident. Our condo was disgusting. There was a black path on the cream carpet where it looked as if it had never been cleaned, there were hairs all over the floors in the restroom, the windows and kitchen didn't look as if they had been touched by the cleaning crew. We never walked around without our shoes one, never sat on the floor unless it was on a towel and never got out of the shower without laying down our own make sift rugs! The room had an odor that smelled like curry and was so bad that we had to buy an air freshener and febreeze to get through the week. So around day 2 as my husband was getting up early to go fishing he found our 3rd cockroach for the week THIS one was right above our daughters bed. I was so disgusted I couldn't go back to sleep so I waited for the rental office to open up and after about an hour of waiting for someone to call me back I had to call again, once I finally talked to someone they told me that switching complexes was not an option. She acted like I was crazy when I asked ...she offered me two things to "run me down some OTC bug spray" or have the HOA send a professional to spray. I picked that one to see that an hour later one of their employees show up with some hot shot crap that you would buy at Lowes and she barely acted like she understood what I was telling her much less what she was doing with the spray. So I spend an entire day putting away all our food then cleaning all the counters and hard surfaces where we would be once she left. We felt our skin crawling the entire time we were there. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND this to ANYONE! The place is run down and not worth the money. Take my word for it people, do not let this be you on vacation go somewhere cleaner and where the staff cares about the customers who keep them in buisness!

Not worth the price
By Allison, 7/31/10
Topsail Island is only for vacationers who want a very very quiet beach. However the St Regis is not worth the money for the privacy. We were told it is newly renovated but it must have been really bad before. Our family rented five condos and had a myriad of problems in each. The rooms are not maintained well. All the rooms were filthy especially the bathrooms. The condo owners determine the quality of furniture, appliances, dishes, etc in each room. I promise the pictures look much better than reality. The WiFi is almost non-existent and the elevators break down frequently. There are no luggage carts to be had between three buildings. It was a disappointment.

We had a great time
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/16/05
We had a great time staying at St Regis North Topsail beach. We rented our condo from a private party. The accomadations were wonderful. Everything that we needed was available in the condo. The condo owener also supplied us with items for the beach (chairs , umbrella. beach items) We enjoyed sitting on our balcony every morning having our coffee and then taking a walk on the beach and collecting seashells. We had 2 teenage boys with us and they had a blast in the ocean with the waves. It was one of the most relaxing vacations that my family has every had and we hope to return in the near future.

Great Place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/27/04
We thought the resort was great. There were some minor upkeep issues on the outside of the resort, but nothing that hindered our enjoyment. We used Treasure Realty to rent the unit we were in - I do not recommend going through them. We had problems with our dryer and they never called or came to fix the problem as they said they would, even with repeated phone calls. We will use Tetterton Mgmt. (noticed a sign for them in the lobby) or call St. Regis Resort directly to find out how to rent next time we go. It is a shame, because the unit we rented was wonderful, despite the dryer problem. Beach is beautiful, pools are nice and the workout room was convenient.
