Disappointed in our third stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/11/07
When we arrived at check -in the cleaning staff were still vacuming and moving furniture around in the reception area. The individual that I made arrangements with over the phone neglected to tell me that the "special level room" for my elderly mother was right next to the kitchen, dining, and reception area and required her to walk up the front stairs. Our TV which we had specifically requested was barely functional (only brought in CABLE stations on upper channels. The reading light next to my bed did not work. We were promised that maintenance would repair both but it was never done. The late afternoon wine and cheese was spoiled by an extremely aggressive and noisy group of co-travelers who dominated the public rooms and drank most of the "free wine", as they put it. At breakfast the same group did not allow any other guests a moment's peace....unusual at a B&B...nothing was said by managment. This was a Mother's Day treat for my handicapped mother, and while she enjoyed herself, we were all disappointed in our choice of this establishment.

A Victorian Delight
By Kim, 01/06/07
This was my first visit to an American Bed & Breakfast Inn, and I was completely charmed by the experience. The Gosby Inn has 22 rooms, yet it felt very cozy and we barely heard the other guests. My husband and I arrived in time for wine, cheese and appetizers, which gave us an opportunity to unwind after a long day of driving. Our traveling companions had arrived a day earlier and were comfortably settled in. Parking is a bit of an issue in this area, as the Inn is just blocks from the coast. Our friends had discovered a nice restaurant within walking distance, so we stayed put for the evening. The staff were very friendly and we soon felt right at home. There were even birthday balloons waiting for me in our room, which was an unexpected touch. In the evening, our bed was turned down and a teddy bear stood guard over chocolates on the pillows! The rooms had private baths and there were plenty of towels and amenities. After a night of restful sleep, we enjoyed a generous breakfast of eggs, potatoes, fresh fruit, juice and coffee. The blueberry muffins were delicious (as were the peanut butter cookies we had for a late night snack the prior evening). The location was convenient for sightseeing in Monterey. I loved the history of the Inn and the attention to detail in the decor. It was so much more personal than a hotel. I will definitely stay there again, and highly recommend the Inn to anyone seeking a warm, homey atmosphere, excellent service, and plenty of delicious food.

Not Recomended
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/03/06
I think this B&B is way too overpriced. Our room was right by the kitchen, way too noisey and small for the price they charged us!!! When we checked in around 4pm we found out that the soaps and lotions in our tiny room were all half way used, and no one bothered to apologize. I would not recomend this place to anyone nor would I ever go back!!

great apple cake, a touch spendy
By KT, 01/25/06
we decided to stay at the gosby house inn during a recent trip down the coast, and overall enjoyed the experience. the stay was slightly dampened by the fact that our room was not entirely clean when we checked in (at 7 p.m.) someone had clearly used the bathroom and the hand towel had a lipstick stain on it. in addition, the guest soap had been unwrapped and used. the staff apologized to us and replaced those items, but it was not ideal. the location was great--right on the main strip of pacific grove. and overall the room was very pleasant. also loved the morning breakfast, especially the warm apple cake! i thought it was a little pricey for what it was, but overall a very pleasant stay.

Two for one!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/20/05
Excellent inn with great weekday two for one specials that we love! Parking is a bit scarce but spaces on Lighthouse are good from after 7pm to next morning at 9am. Try to get the second floor front room-good view of town, quiet and lots of light. (No TV what a delightful thought!)several nice casual cafes within easy walking distance-can't wait to go back.

A Keeper!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/02/04
My husband and I have been returning to this b&b year after year. We have stayed in several other establishments in Pacific Grove and Monterey, but this is by far our favorite! The service is good, and the food is great!

Romantic B&B, very nice
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/10/04
Beautifully decorated Victorian Manor House. Private baths, clean and artfully decorated. Excellent complimentary breakfast and wine and cheese served in the evening. Very romantic and close to shops and good restaurants in this charming little Monterey Peninsula town. Will stay again.
