Run -- don't walk -- away from this dive
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/19/04
I checked into this place in October 2004 for one night. As I walked into my first room, there was a fan located one foot from the door blowing toward the bathroom and a very strong odor of MOLD/MILDEW. "Oh, yes, we had a slight problem with water on the carpet."
In the second room (I had reserved and agreed to pay extra for a "deluxe" room so I would have a refrigerator and microwave), the refrigerator didn't work. They fixed that -- kind of. The phone kept blinking as if I had a message. They fixed that after my second request. The heater didn't work. They never fixed that. One of the drawers on the dresser didn't close all the way. The wall was burned, presumably from a lamp. The chair was heavily stained. The coffeemaker was missing (huge deal for me), as was the hair dryer (not a problem for me), despite the warning taped to the front desk that if items were missing from rooms upon checkout, such as the coffeemaker, etc., there would be a $20 charge per missing item. I mentioned the fact these items were not in the room to the hotel employee, who acknowledged those items were, in fact, missing from that room. (I hope I don't receive a bill for those missing items!) The ice maker was out at 8:00 in the morning (the only time I tried to get ice).
If the above doesn't deter you, be aware you better be a heavy sleeper, as the hotel is right across the street from very active railroad tracks. Keep in mind, with the $25 non-refundable pet deposit (for my service dog in training), I paid almost $100 for one night. Never again.
