Less than expected

This resort could be wonderful but has too many short falls. The restaurant produces far from restaurant quality food, often making substitutions without even advising you. The meats were always dry and tough - we ended up walking 10 minutes down the beach to dine at the neighbouring resort. We witnessed many meals going back, including our own and the time it took to get them was often ridiculous. Even the breakfast service, which provided good food, took forever, with constant reminding of what you had ordered as wrong meals were constantly sent to tables. The staff could be much friendlier - even a smile would be nice. Instead, they simply plod around as though they'd rather be somewhere else. Many lights along the pathways don't work, making it difficult to get around the resort at night. The rooms certainly aren't four star as they claim to be. We stayed in an imperial suite and still had issues. The bed was a double instead of a King as promised, the shower and toilet didn't work properly. There are no brochures for tours or trips. Instead you need to ask the hotel and they charge through the roof to get you anywhere. We, again, went through the neighbouring resort, which is a family resort, so laid out much differently, but the staff were impeccable, friendly and helped us out, even though we weren't staying there. This resort simply lacked the luster that would make it the great resort it could be.
