not a 5-star hotel
Some things work, others don't.
Downside: huge hotel but when you show up for meals, there is one short-order cook and 20 customers waiting, at arrival time guest services try and sell you tours but do not explain that the hotel stores will not take cash, and you have to leave money or card on account, food variety is not great (as compared to, say, Riu Palace), fruit selection is poor, buffet meals are all the same stuff every day, cold water was not running one morning, and the hotel manager was not on hand to handle it. Overall impression is that this hotel's objective is to spend as little money as possible rather than keep their guests happy. You spend a lot of time waiting for service rather than getting service.
Upside: overall nicely appointed, clean and spacious rooms, good pool, good beach (sea was a little rough but I do not know whether this is just this week or always), decent WiFi Internet connection in rooms.
Design flaw: this hotel is designed with shiny smooth floors and a lot of stairs in lobby, dining areas, etc. Unfortunate design given that people walk around in wet and sandy footwear, liquids and creams get spilled, etc.
