wish I was still there
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/3/11
Loved the resort, the staff was friendly and always willing to do the best to please us. I was happy with the location, loved that Bucerias was only a short walk down the beach, such a great little town to hung out at. I did find the pools to be a little on the cool side but given the tempertures a cool down was refreshing. The food was average at the buffet but spectacular at the specality restaurants, enough variety to please all appetites. Wish we had sat on the beaches a little more, lots to do...boogie boarding was fabulous there. I liked that you did not have foot traffic from neighbouring resorts, no one on either side. The night shows were 5 star, have been crusing in the past and nothing compared to the decarmeron shows...great entertainment and interaction with the crowds. We would go back in a heart beat!!!!

had a fantastic time, with a few negative
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/18/11
We had a great time, weather perfect, the complex and the workers work so so hard and are all so kind. the entertainment was fantastic, the food was good, but it really could improve, it was hard to tell what your eating, but the peaple who are all the servers are all great. Our huge big beef was the check out, time which is at noon, and you have know where to go and you luggage sits out side under a net, where anybody can take your luggage, one time we had to put something in our suit case, we just took it from under the net did our thing and put it back, so we think it should be locked up.It was so so hard for us and others, out at 12 noon, our plane did not leave until one in the morning, others did not leave until 4 in the morning, with no room, we all just had to walk all day and night. this needs changed. the rooms need some work, it would have been nice to have a clock and coffee maker in the rooms, but it is the whole check out system was our biggest up set.

Planning our next years trip
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/21/10
Our first time to Mexico as a family and we were recommended the Royal Decameron. It was the best trip we had. The service from the staff was excellent, the food was very good and a large variety, the kids enjoyed the activities at the resort for there was lots to do and didn't even get a chance to see everything but what we did manage to see was great. The kids are looking forward to going back next year and staying 2 weeks instead of one.

Beyond Amazing!!!
By Alexandria Dent, 9/14/10
Our week at the Royal Decameron was the best week of my life!!! The ride from the airport was so quick. When we were dropped off we were greeted by a very nice guy who took our bags and while we were waiting to be checked in we were served ice cold fresh mango juice! The grounds are like nothing I had ever seen!! Beyond beautiful! The buffets and specialty restaurants are awesome! You must do the Mexican restaurant and the Italian( you have to be at the reservation desk before 8 am to resreve)! And make sure you are there Friday night for Mexican night!! The whole place is transformed into a Fiesta! The best drink of all time is the Mango Margarita, to die for!! Amazing sun sets! Amazing everything! Bucerias is a mile walk from the resort, lots of little shops and restaurants on the beach where you can sit and drink an ice cold beer and watch the ocean with your feet in the sand. Great shows at night!! Great atmosphere! Wonderful staff! Clean! Absolutely amazing!! We have been back for over a month and still can not shake the sadness of having to leave. See you there next summer!!!! We love you Royal Decameron!

Would never go there again!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/1/10
I read reviews before we booked our tour and there were very few negative comments. However, we were totally disappointed. We are in our early 60's. The only positives I can give are that the place was beautiful, the rooms were clean and the staff were friendly. The food at the buffets - at first appearance looked good, but was either too spicy, undercooked chicken (samela waiting to happen), there was a lot of variety but food was not appealing to us. The problem was that the place was 75% booked by nationals and they catered to them. Yes, there were hamburgers, hot dogs, pizza, pasta bars, and omelet bars, but not cooked like you would have them in Canada or USA and who wants to go to a supposedly rated 5* and eat fast food. To reserve for the better restaurants (only one airconditioned) you had to be at the desk before 8 a.m. to book and they only booked 50% of the restaurant. The two times we ate in reserved restaurants they were only 3/4 full and was not as advertised. The only place for good drinks were these restaurants, the others and the bars watered them down. The buffets also had birds flying in and out and pooping all over and trying to share you food. They thought this was funny!!! If the resort was no filled to capacity, they cut services. The bed was a mattress thrown on wooden slats with a foamy and the pillows were limp. There were no fridges in the rooms and you were given warm bottled water. The pools were beautiful and we enjoyed the adult only one, but the plastic lounge chairs were not padded and you could only sit for a short time. The same on the beach. The a/c woke us up all night, shutting on and off and the only place to get refuge from the heat was our room. If you are challenged by the heat at all, don't go there during the summer months. You really had to dig for information all the time, no one really was forthcoming and not a lot of English spoken. All of the evening shows were in an amphitheatre, were there was no airflfow and at night must have been over 100 degrees. If they had done the show at the beach were there was a nice breeze sometimes, it would have been more bearable. We were looking forward to more cultural events, but both nights we attended and left before it was over because of the heat, they were doing audience participation events which were lame and we could watch on tv anytime without the unbearable heat and humidity. Tours are better to be booked with Scott down the road near Bucerias. The city tour was well worth it, but we didn't include lunch, bought it ourselves and got the tour for $10 each US rather than $70. After this experience I will never go to Puerto Vallarta again, but I might pay extra and go to Cancun and get a REAL 4 or 5* with restaurants with air and no reservations necessary at 8 a.m.

Went once...will not go again
By Visitor, 2/28/10
First staff did not speak english clearly and had difficulty understanding our requests. We had thought me and my wife would get a King bed (Travel agent said we would have a King but upon arrival it became clear that it was by availability only) and instead had to crunch into a room with 2 doubles. Free Booze was the worst sugary water down liquor I have ever experienced. Beer served was Del Sol...not very good. We went into town to buy Coronas or Dosiquis XXX and Wine that was drinkable. Friends of ours got nailed with the 50$ fee for loosing their wirst band. Food was at best OK..same thing over and over. We asked for a recommendation to eat in town and it was just plain bad. Encore was the name of the restaurant...please avoid. At a couple of points in time...hot water was not available for showers. Only good thing was the SPA massage which was great! Look elsewhere...I read some of these reviews and cant imagine how they would recommend this place.

Overall a decent resort not the best not the worst
By new2resort, 8/12/08
I did have a few problems... Upon arrival we were placed in a building in the back of the complex. When I requested a building closer to the water and even offered to pay more, I was told that those rooms were for people who stayed longer periods of time. We were there for 5 nights and 6 days. Thanks to our Apple representative at the resport, we were able to get a better room the second day we were there. The rooms were kept clean as well as the entire complex. The staff was very friendly and polite. The bartenders by building #4 were the greatest!!! The food left much to be desired... There was a group of twelve of us. At least 10 of us were sick either during our stay or upon our return home. Not a pleasent vacation when you have to spend days in your room.
