stayed one day charged for five days
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/17/10
I Checked in myself no other guests Nov 14th at 9:30pm. I left the room sometime between 3:30-4:30 am Nov 15th to go to the airport for my 6:50 am flight to Florida. When I returned 3 weeks later I noticed the fraudulent charges and call Sandalwood and spoke with a gentleman named Akland who represented himself as a manager and assured me there was no need to contact Visa he would correct the charges. A week or so passed Akland did not get in touch with me so on Dec 10th 0r 11th I went in person back to Sandlewood suites and spoke again with Akland he assured me he would straighten the charge out no later than Monady Dec 14th as I was leaving again the 15th for Florida. I did not hear from him so I called him middle of January the day I returned from florida and he said that he would not be correcting the charges now . They manually keyed in my credit card on two ocasions after I left the hotel for over $500 additional charges while I was out of the country Rob

Worst experience I ever had in Hotel stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/8/09
I never had this kind of horrible experience in a hotel stay. To start with, the carpets everywhere is totally dirty, with lot of stains everywhere, making you sick. And then the walls were also dirty. There were blood stains on both the beds. Both the microwave and the refridgerator were broken and kitchens were with very old looking and dirty countertops. And not just that. Once you go to the bathroom, there were all rusty shower faucets and very old sinks and tubs. I will never come back to this.

Will avoid at all cost
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/16/09
Likes: Front desk people are polite and helpful when it comes to printing boarding passes, check-on, etc. They played loud India/middle eastern theme music in the lobby, but maybe guests like that. I prefer elevator music in a hotel lobby. There is one computer in lobby and most of the time kids are using for video games and not available. There is no WIFI in lobby or rooms, however you can borrow a phone cord for your room. We did feel overall safe, but looked out the peep hole of our room when hearing noised and there were 3 police men arresting someone from the room next door...creepy! The maid was very nice and tried her best. The room still had a humid/slimey feel. The sliding door between the bedroom and living room did not work, off its tracks. The beds were low quality about what you would expect at a Motel 6. During the breakfast, there was a seriously hungry mob piling up mounds of bacon. The lines were out the door, each day. We just ate the cereal as the hard boiled eggs looked like rubber. The coffee was pretty good, though. We paid about $90+ USD for our room, but I think that most of the other guests were getting theres for way cheaper. The photo of the garden with peacock is nice, but the bird is gone and the plants are way too overgrown. They really should pay a lawn person to cut back the bushes just for safety sake. We stayed 5 nights and wanted to go somewhere else, but hung in there because overall we felt safe enough. This location is near the airport and the locals all told us that we were in a bad area. So beware of that, too. If I ever had to go back to this hotel, I will not go back to Toronto. Hope this helps because the good reviews on this sight may have been written by their PR firm.

Worst Hotel Ever
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/12/09
The carpet in the lobby, hallways and room was filthy. The sliding doors inside the suite were off their tracks and unable to move. My wife had an alergic reaction to dust when she sat on the sofa. Electrical outlets had missing cover plates. Paint was peeling on doors and walls. Room smelled musty/mouldy maybe because the windows showed signs of moisture leaking inside them. Towel bar broken off the wall in bathroom. When checking out the clerk wanted us to pay again for the room after I had already paid through Hotwire. Said manager would have to check and that we should wait. Waited 15 minutes then requested where the manager was. Clerk advised that Hotwire was checking and would call back, manager had gone to conference call, no indication when he would be back. Told clerk this was unacceptable, manager could call but we were leaving. Left cell number, still waiting for his call. Cancelled the next reservation and stayed at alternate accomodations. I would NEVER stay at this place, it is absolutely filthy, rooms stink, service is non-existent and lobby furniture has rips and tears in it. Disgusting place. They should have been paying me to stay here.

Superb & Unforgettable
By Elisa, 2/17/09
We've been to a lot of hotel suites during our travels, but my wife & I had a superb stay here. Staff, the facility and services are excellent. We are looking forward to go back during our next trip to Toronto.

I have never had better service!
By Lefty, 9/24/08
This was my first time visiting Canada and the people here made sure it was a visit to remember. Whenever my friend or I had a question, the people at the front desk were attentive and did whatever they could to help out. The room was just like the one I had reserved online--one of the doors was a bit offline, but that didn't take away from the great time I had. It was a bit difficult to find from the road, but as with the room, I still had an awesome time and hope to go back soon!

THE TRUTH, THE WHOLE TRUTH AND NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/11/08
My hausband and I have been coming to this very gracious hotel once a month for over 4 or 5 years. The staff, from the front desk to house clening are so professional and kind. I stay in hotels probably 250 days a year through-out Canada and the USA and you will never find a better, wonderful, house keeping staff as you do at Sandalwood suites Hotel. My husbands work takes him to many destinations in Canada. The location is excellent to travel to Guelph, Stoney Creek, Etobicoke and down town Toronto. There are plenty of restaurants in the immediate area to dine at or Monday thru Thursday one can enjoy the freedom of a dinner offered by the hotel staff. No it is not no Christmas dinner but it will get you through the night which brings me up to the awesome breakfast they offer at no extra cost also. We almost always get a suite with a cook top because my husbands job keeps him away 10,12,14 hours a day and when he returns we enjoy the privacy of each other before we hit the sack (bed). We NEVER had a problem with loud noise out in the halls during the day or while trying to sleep. 99.9% of our visit to this hotel has been delightful.

Very convenient/money saver
By Rec_girl, 6/27/07
We chose Sandalwood because it had a suite. We wanted a separate room to put our 1-year old down to bed. The room was neat and clean. Very convenient to have a sink/fridge/microwave/dishes in the room. And a couch/tv separate from the bedroom. Good deal because it includes a simple supper and continental breakfast. Friendly service in the dining room. Only shortcoming was it took four tries and 16 hours to get a crib that wasn't broken.

Fine if you get a good price
By LindseyL, 10/19/06
I'm surprised by the many glowing reviews of this hotel. We stayed here for a conference, but if I were paying my own way I'd want to be sure to get a good price. The rooms certainly aren't worth the expensive rate quoted to us! The hotel is close to the airport, and has some interesting amenities (courtyard with peacocks!), but the room was quite run down. Bathroom was not very clean, furniture was clearly old, etc. The fitness room was a good bonus, although it's a pretty basic fitness center. Breakfast was average. In summary--if you find a great price, you'll be fine here. But it's not worth the full price tag. If you're going to pay that much, you can afford to stay someplace nicer.
