NOT a "Resort"
By Cristal, 02/23/09
Anyone giving this place a decent rating is probably an employee or the owner. This hotel is not a resort at all. They nickle and dime the guests (have to pay $15 for a VERY small, miniature refrigerator; pay $9.95 A DAY for internet; pay $5.50 a day to exercise; etc). The price to stay is already high, considering this is NOT a resort. The rooms are old. The lighting in the rooms is VERY dim. I'd never stay there again.

Avoid this Place!
By Tara, 06/28/08
We spent our wedding night at SSHR. The experience rated as one of the worst night stays we have ever had, rating lower than the dozens of hostels at which we have stayed. First of all, the suite originally assigned to us was sub-par. It was antiquated in the wrong ways: no toilet lid, horrific carpet, gaudy, frayed furniture from the 70s, rust, cigarette butts left on the balcony. The bridal party prepared in this room, so we requested a clean up from the front desk to be completed over an hour before we needed it. When my new husband and I arrived at the suite right after the wedding for our once-in-a-lifetime WEDDING NIGHT, it was NOT cleaned. The extra table was still set up, blocking our bathroom and bed access, the floor was dirty from all the people, the bed rumpled, the furniture out of place, and the towels wet from falling in the no-lid toilet. We were DISGUSTED. We called the front desk several times, and they finally appeared 20 minutes after our first call when I sent my Matron of Honor to fix things. Fortunately, there were two employees who tried to fix things. The next room they sent us to was actually nice, but it had no jacuzzi tub, which was one of our reasons for getting a suite there on our wedding night. Then, in the middle of consummating our marriage, the staff bangs on the door and subsequently calls us. The ONE bright point is that they ended up sending us to the bi-level penthouse suite, which was incredibly nice. Of course, this was in the wee hours of the morning and they were quick to kick us out at the "extended" time of 12:30 P.M. After we left the hotel, we discovered that several people had left gifts for us at the front desk to be retrieved at check-out. The front desk denied that they had them. All-in-all, the hassles completely outweighed the few hours of bliss we received in the penthouse. Do not stay here unless you receive a renovated room and won't need help.

ok stay
By Mark R, 05/20/08
Our baseball team stayed there back in April for a few days while we were at a Baseball tournament nearby. Was ok but for RESORT type place I was terribly dissappointed in the pool. There were ducks swimming in it and it needed a good cleaning as the pool furniture could have been cleaned up some as well. The staff was very nice and friendly . My son and I spent alot of time in the room as he got flu during our stay. Don't remember much other than we had a bad time because of our sick child Ordered room service and came quickly. Expected a little better and more upgraded rooms and bedding perhaps for a place calling itself a RESORT Our kids seem to have a good time but no body got to swim

Beautiful Locale Close to Home
By A Yahoo! User, 10/19/05
I have visited this site on several occasions. Each time my visit has been more and more impressive. They have a beautiful swimming pool with swim up bar, the marina is so peaceful, and they are just minutes from Houston and Kemah. For a great weekend getaway that's not far away, this is the place to be.

Beautiful Piano Bar & Restaurant Overlooking the Marina
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/28/05
The South Shore Harbour Resort is one of the most beautiful spots south of Houston. It is located just off Clear Lake and overlooks the marina. The resort offers a great place for boaters, and is very family friendly. It features among other things, The Harbour Club (a wonderful bar and restaurant open in the late afternoon and evening), and The Paradise Lounge (a lovely restaurant open during the day for breakfast and lunch). The resort also boasts a hotel, spa, pool, waterfall, mutiple ball rooms, and ample parking. It is great for everything from a quiet dinner with friends to a large weekend conference.
