Plantation Resort, Surfside Beach

Nice place to stay. Staff is ready to help. Pools are great, Bus to Ocean and great golf rates!

First of all, talked to staff at the resort b/c heard of talk about 3 resorts within Plantation! We stayed in a 2 bedroom loft in Plantation Resort Villas, which is just one of there resorts, all on the same property, some are about 10 years old (i think Presidential Villas)and other is (Plantation Resort of Myrtle Beach) around 15-20 yrs. The Plantation Resort Villas units were completely redone a few years ago. And if i was told correctly they all were going throughrenovations! Once I understood there were different resorts within Plantation Resort, everything was okay with me, I overheard another gentleman very upset about his unit at check in, one of the managers came out and spoke with him informing him the resort has a Gold Crown Part as far as some of the units, and he was in the lower section because of his timeshare. The manager politely told the gentlemen who to call since they were all booked up! I own a gold crown resort in Florida and this one compared to it, sorry, other people who stayed there, dont know what happen to them, the unit was wonderful, the staff at the front was awesome, always smiling, and the girls in activities, plus they have special events that are going on,Polynesian Night and a Big Fry!!! For Polynesian, they had pretty good food and had a Fire Dancer/hula dancing and there were plenty of staff there, there General Manager was actually there enjoying the time with the guests making sure everything was going okay, and the other staff were awesome....We enjoyed everything the resort had to offer, apparently things have maybe changed there, but i dont see how, everything was wonderful!!!! Planning a trip for next summer!!!

We stayed in the Presidential Villas in Nov. 2009. The pool was great, the whirlpool by the pool was great, the pool furniture was great, and the exercise room was ok. We have a time share there and find that they appear to be upgrading the facilities. We are returning in March and hopefully will find more improvements. I would recommend this facility for people not wanting to be on the beach even though it is not too far away to drive and enjoy.

My family booked a vacation through Plantation Resort to stay at another resort in Myrtle Beach. The salesman told us all the right things to get us to take the package, but when we arrived we found a complete mess. We had talked to the salesman numerous times before the vacation and asked specific questions about the number of people the villa would sleep, location of villa and how to check-in. When we arrived the check-in place was closed, not enough beds-we had 4 small children and didn't get them in bed till midnight, plus we were about a 10-15 minute walk from the beach, opposed to a 3 minute walk! We called the salesman and he said it was out of his hands so he never answered anymore of our phone calls, so we had to find a way to fix it ourselves. Plantation Resort had some of the rudest employees, they still haven't done anything to compensate for our horrible vacation and they lie just to get your money, please beware when booking through this company!

Having to pay for things that similar properties do not charge for use. Property does a poor job at explaining the things a non-golfing visitor can do.

We just came back from vacation and this is the first time that I am disappointed with RCI for rating this place a Gold Crown. Maybe back in the 70's. This place is very outdated. The beds, furniture, kitchen and bathroom are all stained. It smelled awful. We stayed in the Presidential Villas in a two bedroom. The pools were ok, and staff were very nice, but this resort should not be gold, maybe silver.

My parents own the "red time" at Plantation. We always enjoy coming to the beach without staying directly ON the beach where all of the hooplah is constantly going on. We like driving TO the craziness and noise, but not staying right in it. Plantation is the perfect place to come and relax or bring your family. It is clean, well-kept, and they have added a new kid-friendly fun pool area as well as a lazy river ride. There is a Walmart right down the road which is convenient. Everything (including restaurants, golf courses, mini golf, etc.) is just a short drive away...very nearby. Plantation is a great place for bustling fun family activity and quiet nights (without the chaos of downtown Myrtle Beach.) I definitely recommend staying here.

It was a really nice place to stay if you are a older person. My husband and i stayed there on our honeymoon last week me being 21 and him 26 we were the youngest couple there. We kind of felt like outcast. We thought it was a mile from the beach where we could walk to it but when we got there the resort itself is a mile from the main road so it would of been an hour walk at the least, and you have to pay to park at the beaches at surfside($1/hour)If you are under 35-40 i wouldnt stay here. oh yea the pools closed at 10pm and so did everything else so we felt like it was "lights out" pass 10

We did an RCI exchange for our week . The agent making the reservations told my husband it was a studio condo, but it had a full kitchen. It turned out to be a hotel room with a dorm refrig and a hot plate. We were asked to come to a 45 min presentaiton to give our opinion of the resort. It turned out to be a hard sell timeshare trap that lasted 5 hours. No one ever asked us our opinion. The whirl pool was broken ( no jets )both days we went, a metal ladder to climb into the pool was broken, the room smelled like cigarrets , they only had cheap prepacked coffee , no filters to use your own and there was no outside water to rinse off the beach sand ( you had to just track it in and wash in the tub, which did not drain well ). The bed was as hard as a park bench. I would not reccomind this place .

I stayed last week on a golf trip and it was our 5th time at Presidential Villas. We normally stay during the summer, week 29 in late July. The villa was like new and I 1st stayed there in 2002 or 2003(?) when they were new. The carpet and furniture was in great condition! It's a very nice setup with the lockout room. They also have great amenities and activities for the family during the summer months.
