We Loved It
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/24/12
My husband and I stayed here to ski at Seven Springs with our three boys. We had a very nice stay. The room was very clean and nice and reasonably priced. They had a yummy hot breakfast which was free - a must with three kids! The nearby town was too cute. There was an ice festival going on and we could walk everywhere! We we definitely be back!

will go back again
By Susan, 3/8/11
Recently stayed for a weekend of fun in the Laurel Highlands. We have stayed here before and our stay was always comfortable. The hotel is currently undergoing renovations. The guest rooms are very nice. As always, the bedding is exceptional. The staff is very friendly & helpful. The restaurant was open & the food was delicious. We will most definintely return to this hotel.

Will never recommend
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/25/10
While the hotel is a historical hotel that doesn't mean that it is never to be updated. Everything about the hotel is old and dirty. I am an employee of a Ramada hotel and would be embarrassed to be an employee at this particular hotel. I was totally disappointed with the cleanliness of the room from the walls to the floor and everything in between. I checked in on a Wednesday and checked out on Saturday and was relieved that most of my time was spent outside of the hotel. I am happy the trip was not considered a romantic getaway because it would have been a very big disappointment.

We won't be back to you shinn.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/23/09
This place is a nightmare. The ONLY reason and I mean ONLY reason to stay there is if you want a place close to Idlewild. We've stayed there every summer for the past 3 years and every year it gets worse. Last year (Summer 2008) some one had thrown up at the pool while we were there. I called immediately to get it cleaned up. 10 minutes went by..20 minutes went by ..I called again. 30 minutes went by. A little boy stepped in it and slipped onto the cement. Still no one to clean up this health hazard 2 feet from the pool. Ultimately, no one came until the pool was closed. The manager told me the next morning that everyone was too busy at 8pm on a weeknight to respond. It turns out that one person at the front desk was there to run everything during this time and he couldn’t leave the front desk. If you bother staying there and we won't ever again, you better be ready for no one to take responsibility for anything and everything that goes wrong from stained carpets to unimaginable smells to excuse after excuse. This year, Summer 2009, I made another reservation to give them another chance and just cancelled it. My four year old said to me, " Is that the place with the throw up at the pool?" If a four year old remembers that a year later that tells me something. Is that the vacation memory I want my children to be left with? We're staying at the Sheraton Inn in Greensburg for the same money for the first time this summer. It's 15 minutes away, but well worth the piece of mind that if something is wrong, someone will fix it and take responsibility for it. How the management manages to stay employed in Ligonier in this place, I’ll never know. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else.

Very Disappointing Stay!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/27/07
You can tell that there has been years of neglect at this hotel when it comes to cleaning. It appears when you first enter the hotel, with the lobby smelling like an old smokey bar, to the front desk area decorated with stains on the carpet. We arrived earlier in the afternoon mid-week with two other couples and their children to pick up our tickets for Idlewild. After returning from the park at 8:30 PM, we checked into our room. Upon using the bathroom, I pulled the shower curtain back to discover two bottles of shampoo that were used, along with a bar of soap with hair wrapped around it! DISGUSTING to say the least!!! Apparently, the room had not been cleaned, but the beds were made! The other families had a similar situation with their rooms not meeting standards as well. My children and husband were out at the "not so clean pool" area when I complained. (At least it was not green like it was on our first visit). It was passed off to me that since we "checked in" at noon, that was the reason it was dirty...."you must have used it" I was told. Once I explained to the front desk that the actual "check in time" was 8:30 PM, we were promptly moved. We had no assistance in moving suitcases, etc. to the next room which was down another corridor. Upon entering the second room, the bathroom did not have an extras left in it, however, the entire room itself once again was not very clean. Checking out the next morning, I asked the counter clerk for a discount for the inconvenience of having to move rooms due to the filth. Her response was "with only one night's stay....there is no housekeeping service". The manager heard the conversation but tried to avoid us and quickly walked by with, "I'm sorry about that" and left the desk area. So unless you plan on spending more than one night, don't expect any of the rooms to be clean! It's not a part of the package! This was the most disappointing stay for an Idlewild trip that we have ever experienced. This was our our 8th year that our family has made this trip. The first year we stayed at this hotel we had a not-so-good experience as well. We figured that since they had "renovated" everything 3 - 4 years ago, things would have been different. All in all....it is WELL WORTH the extra drive of 15-20 minutes going outside of Ligonier into Greensburg for a much cleaner hotel.

A great weekend
By Deborah, 5/16/07
This place was perfect for my family. I have 1 year old twins & a six year old and the kids eat free was a blessing and we loved the outdoor pool. The girl that checked us in was was so friendly and helpful. We loved being so close to Idlewild Park and we can't wait to go back next year.

Expected more from a AAA 3 Star
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/12/06
We were going to be visiting Idlewild, so the location was great. There was a 48-hour cancellation policy so I was a little apprehensive about committing to staying there but I felt a little better since AAA gave it three stars. The front desk and the restaurant service were great. When we got to our room, we saw a coffee-maker but no coffee. We also saw an envelope left by the housekeeper for her tip. The next morning we found that the carafe did not match the coffee-maker so we had to contact the front desk for a matching set. Our little boy was very excited about going for a swim in the pool but, unfortunately, it was too dirty for swimming. This was a HUGE disappointment to us because there's not much else to do in the area in the early evening. My husband noticed that the bathroom shower curtain was a little dirty and that the men's room on the first floor was also dirty. We could have overlooked the coffeemaker problems but not the lack of cleanliness. Overall, we were very disappointed because we did not believe that the hotel was worthy of a AAA 3-star rating.

Close to all attractions
By Mike K, 6/16/05
Service from front desk, Bistro and housekeeping was excellent and very friendly. Heated pool was very nice. Location was excellent for Laurel Highlands sites especially Idlewild, and within walking distance to Ligonier shops and gazebo. Room was spacious and comfortable. Only complaint would be low quality toilet paper and stain on sheet..nothing major. Overall a pleasant stay...would highly recommend it.
