Won't stay here again
By Island, 10/25/09
The rooms are spacious and for the most part nicely decorated but everything else about this place is awful. Housekeeping is a joke and management is even worse. I am currently staying on a monthly rental and have had hot water issues for 2 days and staff is telling me that it will be at least tomorrow before it gets fixed. No hot showers and my husband had to run water through the coffee maker just to shave his face. Unacceptable!!! The internet here is virtually non-existant. The signal strength is horrible, it locks up constantly and the majority of the staff have no idea how to reset it. My husband witnessed somebody back their boat trailer into the side of someones truck by the boat slips causing considerable damage. The truck owner could not be found and it was apparent that the driver was not going to leave any note so my husband wrote down the license plate number and informed the manager. His response was that "He was not getting involved." Very poor management response IMO. The "Pet Free Facility" is also a big fat lie. I have witnessed numerous people bring their dogs, you can hear them barking non-stop in the rooms while the owners are out. If you have pet allergies do not stay here. The majority of the day time staff is rude and on one occasion while out on the dock I had a housekeeping staff member announce that she was ready to go home so she could smoke marijuana. During the off season the front desk closes and ALL staff leaves at 11pm and does not return until 8am so if there are any issues at night (excessive noise, lost/misplaced room key, or fire) your only option is to call an automated answering service, leave a message and hope someone calls you back. The rooms are only cleaned AFTER people leave so if you plan on staying for more than just 2 days be prepared to take your own garbage out, change your own bedding ect. Decent place to stay if you plan on spending 99% of your time on a boat but if your looking for a nice vacation spot go elsewhere.

So-So ...At your own risk
By , 07/06/09
This review is in two parts - Hotel/Room & Location/Value Hotel/Room - The Hotel seemed clean, the pool was nice..The room sucked, the bathroom had a clump of hair in the tub and the faucets were caked with what looked like some type of powdered cleaner..We had no blankets or sheets for the pull out couch and when we asked for some the hotel told my daughter that they were out of blankets and they had checked every room before hand and all of them had blankets (insinuating we were lying and trying to steal blankets I guess) So hubby went up and finally they said they would check and gave us some sheets....The walls are paper thin and the neigbors were up at 1:00 am running the hallways and slamming the room door. Location/Value The location is awesome...The hotel is on the sound, and the 3 blocks walking distance from the beach...1/2 mile from a movie theater...walking distance to a pizza place, shopping center...ABC store is across the street.....As for value, If I had been with friends and we had split the bill then would have been a decent stay....However as a family...cleanliness was way down, service was crappy, and price was 150 per night.

Nice stay
By Lorraine, 04/20/09
Our stay here was nice, bed was comfortable, room was clean, no problems with hot water. The only dislike was the fire alarm going off twice the first night we were there but other than that everything was great.

Never Again!!!!!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/21/09
This place was so bad, we left the next morning. We were invited to a wedding on New Year's Eve and this hotel was listed in the invitation for a place to stay. Obviously, the bride to be did not stay there herself, or she just didn't like us very much to recommend a dump like this. NEVER AGAIN

Labor Day 2007
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/06/07
I recently stayed at Palm Suites over the Labor Day week-end and unlike another posting, found the property a great find. Yes they had problems with the hot water, but the staff called each guest to let them know about it and that a discount would be given to them. I have stayed many times and in many different rooms due to the fact that they are all different. As for the noise, yes you can hear the guest in the room next door and the doors closing from other rooms. But that is what happens when you stay in a hotel or condo-tel. I am very impressed with what has been done to the property, I spoke with the Property Manager during our stay and he is working on correcting several of the problems. In all Condo type situations you are responsible for removal of your trash and the towel replacement comment is just wild considering there is laundry facility on site. But I don't think it warrants a negative rating until you come back to see the results. My suggestion is that if you are that unhappy stay somewhere else or stay home, it appears that you would not be happy anywhere. I say "Great Job" to the management and staff at Palm Suites, we will return an spread the good word.

Boat slip the only positive.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/04/07
This is the third time at this location. One time when it was Days Inn and two times after the "supposed" remodeling. If it wasn't for the fact that this place is only one out of two that has boat slips in the area we would not stay here. I don't think a hastily patched boat ramp and new fridges and microwaves construes "remodelling". The bathrooms are still the same and the toilets still don't flush properly. The lighting is poor and the air conditioning is still noisy. The door locks/latches are worn out and still make too much noise when opening or closing if you're not careful. There is also no high speed internet access. As with all Days Inn properties, the walls are so paper thin you can hear some-one's bowel movement in the adjoining room, if you are in a ground floor room any-one walking in the room above sounds like a herd of elephants and as usual, the staff are friendly but inept. This propery is now a "Condotel" which means that the individual rooms are privately owned and a management company overseas the rental and operations of the property. For some strange reason, they have decided to discontinue maid service so if you are staying for more than one day, plan to take your own garbage out and keep the room clean yourself. You'll also have to beg for clean sheets, soap/towels etc that are provided at other motels that charge a lot less than this place. During our two day stay over the labor day week-end, there was no hot water Saturday till 10:30 P.M., the outside garbage cans by the side entrance and fishing dock were overflowing with smelly garbage piled next to them and not emptied till the afternoon. This property states it has a no tolerance policy on noisy guests. Yeah right, just try and get them to enforce it. If you own a boat like we do, do not use Slip 1A. the piling that supports the walkway is still loose and has still not been fixed still after telling the management and you'll end up falling if you're not careful. If you're a novice boater and plan on using the boat ramp, watch out for the wooden wall that sticks out on the left when backing up and also the "curbs" on either side of the ramp. There's also a pretty big drop off at the end of the ramp. For small boats the ramp is Ok and larger boats only at high tide, otherwise you're better off launching and retrieving at the NC Wildlife fisheries ramp directly across Bogue Sound from the Motel. The channel around the point has been recenty dredged and is now well marked but beware it is still a no wake zone all the way until you clear the last house on the right in the Sound.

We're Going back this Year!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/17/06
Palm Suites, Atlantic Beach is a wonderful place to stay, the service is fantastic, the rooms are spacious and several offer a beautiful view of the sound. In the mornings you can partake of a wonderful continental breakfast, while being greeted at the front door by a group of ducks and ducklings, enjoy your breakfast, inside,on the patio, or outside under the boardwalk pavillion. The pool provides a fantastic place to relax and soak up the sun, The Location is perfect for any beach goer, activites abound in the sound, pier fishing and charter boat fishing are close by, historical tours of Fort Macon is right down the road, Visit one of NC best attraction, the aquarium, We visit the area every year and always make it a point to stay here, we cant wait for our vacation this year!
