Comfortable Inn, Alma

We stopped here on the strength of our GPS lodging finder, en route home after a long, tiring drive from Chicago that left us simply physically unable to travel safely any farther that evening. We were pleased to find a friendly and helpful night staffperson AND a completely adequate, clean room for this unplanned stop. Pros: The value; the cleanliness of the room, especially the bathroom. Cons: The unsecured (despite a keyslide) secondary doors around the building; the closed in-house restaurant and other indications that this once-chain-motel establishment is down on its luck. There really aren't that many lodging options in town, so for the sake of travelers like us we hope that the new management makes a go of this motel.

I wanted to stay here because I was visiting Alma to see my grandkids and sons from Virginia and they have a pool. Not impressed!! My room was at the back corner of the hotel and soon found out to get to the vending machine, ice machine and pool I had to go down the hall, go outside and through the parking lot. But...I thought I should just relax and go with the flow! In the morning when I went to pick up my granddaughter I forgot to put out the do not disturb sign...well, when I got back the door was left open! Housekeeping made the bed but left the door ajar! Nothing was missing but the cleaning spray was left in my bathroom. The pool was not very nice at all...paint chipping and rust stains and the hot tub was taped off and out of order! I do not recommend this hotel and I am very easy to please.

This hotel is a great place to stay. Its clean and the staff is wonderful. I would recommend this place to all of my friends and family. My fiancee and i have stayed here twice and look forward to going back.
