Disappointed

Stayed at the Hampton Inn in Gurnee with my daughter. We were having a girls shopping weekend a few weeks before christmas. I had booked a double queen non smoking, and I paid for it in advance to save some money. Within 15 minutes of getting settled into our room, the toilet malfunctioned and caused a flood in the room. The front desk was called and a women came to our room with a plunger. I proceeded to tell her that it didn't need a plunger, the toilet wasn't plugged. She just looked at me like she didn't know what to do, so I ran into the bathroom in my pajamas and socks on and shut off the water going to the toilet. Then as i stood there with soaking wet feet she proceeded to accuse me of doing something to overflow the toilet. She finally stopped giving me the third degree and moved us to a single queen room. My 14 year old daughter and myself were forced to sleep together in a tiny bed. The women at the front desk promised us compensation. After a restless night, we checked out and i asked about the compensation i was promised, since this was a different girl than the one the evening before. She said that since I paid in advance best she could do for me was a $50 certificate off my next stay. Apparently they cannot give you your money back!!! I reluctantly accepted it, but as me and my daughter drove away, we read it closer....it was a $50 certificate off my next 2-night stay! What a rip off! I will never stay at a Hampton Inn again. I threw the $50 certificate in the trash as soon as I got home that evening.
