Sea Palms Inn, St Simons Island

Well, after reading the negative reviews, we were not looking forward to our stay. It was one of the only places still available Memorial weekend, so we had no other choice. When we drove up to the hotel, it confirmed the negative comments. However, once we walked inside the lobby to check in we were pleasantly surprised. It was very clean and updated. The staff was very accommodating. When we went into our room we were also surprised, it was very nice and clean. There has definitely been a renovation within the last year or so because the fixtures were nice, had granite counter tops and bathroom was updated. The bathroom was a bit small, but didn't present a problem because we didn't spend much time in the room. Overall, it was a very nice room for the price. The pool was nice and there was a kiddie pool and hot tub as well. The kids had a blast! The continental breakfast was also great, we didn't feel the need to eat breakfast at a restaurant. The location is about 10 minutes from the beach, but very close to restaurants and shopping. This suited us nicely. In closing, we would definitely stay here again. Sea Palms Inn was much better than we expected.

Rooms were recently updated. We had a standard king. Staff was very friendly. Rooms were great! Very nice, very clean. Beautiful entertainment center with big flat screen tv, granite counter top vanity, tiled shower. Pool area was very nice and clean. Cant beat this place for the money or location. Less than 5 minutes from everything. If you need to buy beach stuff, dont shop at the stores right by the hotel, they are way too expensive.........go to the Village by the Pier and Lighthouse. Lots of beach shop at much better prices.

Good location. Restaurants are nearby. Hotel is away from traffic jams at lighthouse. The rooms are great, as well as the pool. The breakfast was very good and the staff helpful.

First off we made reservations and when we got there they said we had none! So we had to wait to get a room. They were nice and fast about it though. The pictures we saw on the internet were not of the same room! No flatscreen tv, no spacious bathroom, just a normal hotel room. I did like the bed, but they didn't have fitted sheets. The ac worked well too. The pool was a bit cloudy, but do-able. The hot tub felt great. Mainly just disappointed that once I got there I knew that the room we got wasn't going to have a flatscreen and look nothing like the picture because I remember staying there when I was little with my parents and it was a Days Inn. Also it looks so run down. It needs some color or something. Though the continental breakfast was good. I would go there again If I am not looking for a fancy updated room like I thought I was getting from the pictures & pamplets. Other than that, great place!

clean and everything we needed right there,nice beds and great pool.we will go back loved the place.all employees were very nice and helpful.

The Sea Palms Inn is a complete dump. It was old, outdated rooms, and the hotel staff was not very friendly. We drove in expecting a nice updated hotel, (based on the reviews from several websites) and immediately upon checking in, our room was downgraded to standard instead of what we were promised, a queen deluxe room. This was definitely a lower end hotel. The only good thing about this hotel was that it was close to fast food restaurants and a few shops. I will NEVER stay here. We ended up at the Best Western Island Inn which was older also, but much nicer in terms of courtesy and lodging.

My husband and I stayed here for our anniversary. We thought the staff was very polite and helpful. The room was very clean and nicely decorated. We enjoyed the breakfast, they had a great selection to choose from. The sitting area is very cozy. The hotel is in a great location. We could walk to the shops and to the restaurants. We are planning a trip to come back with our son! We will definately stay here again. The pool and spa are awesome! We can't wait to come back!

Stayed at Sea Palms Inn during the week of 7/18/07 with a group of 25+ personnel training at FLETC. There were numerous problems during the stay, hermit crabs in rooms (not invited), floors and carpet so nasty that the bottom of your feet turned black, clocks that wouldn't work, etc. I have stayed there in the past and it was not this nasty. Rooms need to be sprayed often to keep the uninvited creatures out and the carpet needs to be replaced at a minimum. Very discouraged at the $100 per night room price also.

No fitted sheets on the bed -- only flat sheets. Musty smell to room. Refrigerator froze my milk and water; no knobs to adjust temperature. Moldy-looking spot on bathroom wall. The best feature of the room was the shower curtain.

I was there with a large group for a nearby training / convention, so we spent very little time in our rooms ('Pelican' Bldg.). Yes, this is an older establishment, but the rooms were clean, spacious, nice decor, internet connection, work area, scenic balconies (overlooked the marshes), comfortable beds, etc. I appreciated the simple/little things like a double sink, hairdryer, iron, frig., ample supply of gourmet coffee, etc. Only complaints from all members: Poor water pressure from showers and the nightly 'pounding' footsteps heard from above (felt like the ceiling was going to cave in). Suggestion: request rooms on the third floor only if booked in this bldg.
