Affortable, friendlystaff, quaint location

If you are able to use a military discount, I highly recommend that you do whether you are active duty or retired, you can't beat the price. We stayed through the weekend and found that other motels in town will charge you extra for a Friday through Saturday stay but with a military discount the price stays the same at this motel. If you are entitled to other discounts I recommend you ask if it will entitle you to the same rates for the weekend.
We found the staff at the front desk very friendly, informative and willing to help. We were lodged in a building called the Willow cottage just above the main building. It has a screened in porch with tables and chairs. Real nice to sit and relax, bug free, and a real nice view of a tree lined mountain to look at. The pool and sauna is right below it. As you enter the cottage it has a general lounge area with sofa and chairs. Very nice.
There are 3 rooms in the cottage with the 3rd room large enough for groups or family. During our stay we noticed 7 adult males occupying that large room.
The room has a color cable TV. No HBO or Showtime but it does have ESPN and all your local channels and cable news channels like CNN, FOX, etc. The room is about 15 x 15, decent size room with a single queen size bed, a closet, night stand, alarm clock, a table with chair, and a side board with 4 drawers.
There is a sink with cabinet inside the room. It is not part of the small bathroom. The bathroom is rather small, about the width of a closet. It has a small shower stall and the shower head is about 5 feet of the ground. Too low for a 5' plus person. The shower stall is clean but being health conscience we took along a bath mat.
The toilet is small in circumference. If a male has to sit down to his business he will have to ensure as to not touch the inside of the toilet rim. It's not pleasant to come into contact with the inside rim of a toilet bowl. One could catch diseases. Never know these days.
Even though the bathroom as an electric fan, we recommend you bring air freshener for the bathroom or Febreze. Since the Inn is in the mountains, bugs could easily enter the rooms so just in case it did we brought along a small can of bug spray. We did see two small bugs coming out of the bathroom baseboards and we sprayed along the baseboard. Other than that, we encountered no other bugs or bed bugs but we came prepared just in case.
Continental breakfast is provided. It offers apples, bran cereal,a fruity pebble cereal, instant oatmeal, a small muffin, bagels, bread for toast, waffles that you make on your own (the batter is premeasured in small cups which you pour on the waffle iron yourself), coffee decaf and regular, and orange juice. Not bad but can get boring if you stay for more than 4 days. A USA Today paper is provided in the dining area.
The Inn compound is well kept. It is raked from leaves, and the parking lot is swept from debris. The maintenance is also well kept. The pool and sauna is constantly checked ensuring the water conforms with pool specifications.
We are very pleased with our stay and will return to use this facility again. We highly recommend the Comfort Inn in Mariposa.
