Look foward to going back soon
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/11/09
There seems to be very mixed reviews, but we had a great stay. Yes it is up hill, but doable if you have no physical limitations, and a fast down hill desend into town. Very close to everything. The staff was pleasant and helpful. The room was clean. You can request a room on the lower floor. There is no elevator in the building. Very affordable. Prices varies depending on time of year.

It was great!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/20/09
We stayed in the penthouse and was taken by golf cart up the back way. It was nice and we had a great time. We didn't hear any noise or were we disturbed in any way by the staff. It is uphill but thats only a problem if you're out of shape!!!!

Don't Be Misled by the Ad's for this place
By Darryl, 10/24/08
We booked this hotel because it was advertised as the newest hotel on the island and it offered several rooms with "full ocean view". We booked the only room with "full ocean view" that had a queen size bed. The hotel is a very long block uphill away from the shops and ocean, we had to walk up four flights of very windy steps to get to our room. The room is clean but very small, just a few feet on each side of the bed small...the "full ocean view" was a large window that faced the mountains, now the view was nice but to see ANY ocean you had to turn your head, with your right cheek very near the window, to face the ocean...this is not a "full ocean view" this is a mountain view...you shouldn't have to go outside your room onto the walkway to see the ocean for the premium we paid for the "full ocean view". The staff was not very interested in helping or friendly. I WOULD NOT recommend this hotel, and I will not stay here again.

WORST SERVICE EVER!!!
By Jinny, 08/04/08
I was just there over the weekend. Worst place I have ever been to. The hotel charges an additional $30 per person per night. ITs not that extremely bad, but the hotel staff watches and spys on you like a hawk. I felt that there was no privacy. In terms of being clean, its not that bad. The service is the worst. Check out is 11am. We were running late, but it was only 10:50am. The maid knocks on our door. We said that we will be out in a minute. Instead of saying ok or something of that nature, she tells us to "hurry up". I have never had that happen before, completely unexpected when we haven't even exceeded the check out time.

Good Value
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/11/08
The place is pretty cool, with the deck where you can get to see the sunset, the staff are okay, maybe with a little sound insulation the place would be great.

Very Positive Experience!
By Tara, 02/13/06
We chose this hotel because we were on a budget and were very pleasantly surprised. The office staff was very helpful and accomodating. The hotel had a nice view and was conveniently located, although we did get a little breathed walking up and don the hill that leads to the heart of down town Catalina. That is probably more to our discredit than theirs though. The rooms were more than adequate, nicely decorated and clean too. Would definitely recommend it to others.

Good for a night's stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/12/05
The Casa Mariquita is a cute little hotel that is conveniently located in downtown Catalina. The rooms are clean are moderately sizes. The view (on a hill) is pretty spectacular and the beds are very very comfy. There is a cute little deck where you can enjoy a sunset cocktail with your friends. The only thing that I don't like about this hotel is the noise. Although the hotel is quite small, leaving your window open, you can hear everything outside in the hall including the cleaning staff, other guests, other's footsteps and movements. Perfect for a night's stay as you could do most of the things there in a weekend. I would recommend this hotel if you don't mind a little noise outiside your room.

Never again!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/17/05
People...only stay here if you want dirty and cheap! This was motel 6...no motel 5! This is where you stay if you have no other choice. The place was not filthy, but I would not describe it as clean. The walls must be made of paper because we could hear every toilet flush...every shower...and some other things we did not really want to hear. All I can say is thank goodness it was for only one night and never again. I would rather cut my visit to Catalina short than stay at the Casa Mariquita again.

Not bad at all
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/02/05
Not a bad place. Close to everything. The room was an average size, pretty clean and the girls in the office were nice. The price was the cheapest I was able to find anywhere. Overall, not bad at all.
