Great service
By ,
I visited from 05/07/2009 to 05/12/2009. The hotel has a great view of the bay and beaches. Rooms are very clean and well kept. Service is great and the pool areas and beach are well kept and clean, all the staff is very helpfull and friendly. I will recomend this place to anybody, I have a great times in the beach and pool areas, enjoying the great service that Felipe Pacheco (Server) provides to every body. Buffets are good, but a little expensive. But I must enjoyed the clean and well kept room/bed. Hope to be back there soon, and I will recomended to everybidy, good pricing, great area, and great service.

JUST SO SO
By ,
I know it was spring break, but the hotel next door (playa suites) had unbearably load music that played ALL day and night. Very noisy hotel. Room service not very good. Had to beg for towels and wash clothes. Do the all inclusive, because meals are very expensive. Great location is the best i can say about this hotel.

Say NO to Crowne Plaza Acapulco!!!
By ,
We stayed at the Crowne Plaza Acapulco from 02.28.0 - 03.07.09. My husband and I were very disappointed as were many others in our group. We were part of a group of 64. We booked our stay for $1100/person, which we thought was an awesome deal! We ended up spending another $300 just in extras that weren't included! That should not be the case with an all inclusive! The XOXO station down the street was were you had to go for beverages or snacks because of poor availablity at the resort. A few couples had never been to Mexico and had only heard the wonderful stories...they will never go again because of this resort! This group goes to Mexico every year and we have never had such a terrible time. The rooms are outdated and smelly. The beds are extremely hard. There is no refrigerator in the room and we had to keep calling for towels as housekeeping wouldn't leave any and they were of "well-used" quality. Only one restaurant was open the whole 7 days and only 1 buffet at a time. Food was terrible.Unless food and drink were obtained at the restaurant or bar, you had to pay. I would classify this as a semi-inclusive resort. The poolbar at the main pool was only open from 11am-6pm and the 3rd floor pool never had a bartender. The lobby bar was open from 6pm-11pm with no entertainment. Room Service and any drinks to your room cost you! Every drink and meal has to be signed for or atleast put under your room number. Resort is right downtown which makes it nice to get some good food close by, but very noisy. Hard to hear ocean at night with all the night-life. Flea market is right across the street for shopping (if you're into poor quality merchandise.) We booked our trip thru Worry Free Vacations. The hotel is only a 2 star according to the book in the rooms. Luis, who was our rep from WFV, was not forthcoming with information and not helpful. He also misrepresented some excursions out. He said they would exchange money at their booth in the lobby, but when it came time, he was unwilling. People from the group came back with as much as 900 pesos because Luis and his helper Mary wouldn't exchange as indicated earlier in the trip. The staff is very unfriendly, even rude, and not helpful at all. They expect to be tipped and aren't appreciative. They appeared to be inconvenienced by our stay there. The beach was very rocky, rough and steep. Now, don't get me wrong, we made the best of a bad situation (we were stuck there for 7 days afterall!) and the scenary is beautiful. Chose a different resort that is in fact all-inclusive and that doesn't appear to be in such disrepair. Previous years, the resort and employees were happy we were there, there was no less than 3 restaurants and snack bars open until all hours, a refrigerator stocked everyday with water/soda/and cervesa :0) and room service included, a disco or other night-life entainment right at the resort, Daily activities at the resort, etc etc etc. Please be wary of the Crowne Plaza Acapulco!!

better than expected
By ,
The rooms are outdated but very clean..staff is friendly & helpful. The tour desk in the lobby will also exchange currency. The hotel has a very nice pool & beach area and is close to shops & restaurants. Carmens' has a good selection of silver jewelry at very affordable prices.

Would go back
By ,
Normally I don't write reviews, but after I read all the poor reviews I thought I should. My husband and I went in February 2008. Our room was wonderful, service was great. In fact my husband forgot to lock the safe (?) and all our cash was in the open.. when we got back our room was clean and all our money was still there. The food was great. I love fresh fruit - and it was 4-5 differnt kinds all fresh. Sometimes food may not be steaming hot, but take something else. The service was wonderful. George at the front bar was great. The beach staff was great. All you have to do is smile, tip a little and have fun. The location is great. It is in the middle of all the action. Great restraraunts everywhere. I would go back again.

awful

Check in is awful outdated and took forever. The Staff is very unfriendly and not helpful. We also had a backpack that went mysterously missing at the pool while out towels and shirts were found. Plenty of other hotels in Acapulco, find a different one.

Good location/terrible food
By ,
The hotel is well located and we found the staff to be very accomodating, but the food was TERRIBLE. We booked the all-inclusive option with the understanding that there were two a la carte restaurants. I expect marginal food at the buffet (and wasn't surprised that it was only fair/marginal quality), but expect quality food at the a la carte restaurants. The Los Arcos restuarant was billed as a la carte Mexican cuisine. It was only open one night that I am aware of during our 7-night stay. We dined there and were told that there was no a la carte option, just the buffet featuring onion soup, penne pasta, and other foods that I would not consider "mexican cuisine". Very disappointing! The italian restaurant food was edible, but no where near what I would expect for a hotel with this rating. Also, there were no activities during our stay, other that the lobby bar band on some of the nights. And the beds are VERY hard. If you just want to relax in the sun, this is a fine spot. The facilities were clean and the staff was accomodating, but the food was terrible and there were no resort activities that I would expect from this type of facility.

Never Again
We stayed at the Crowne Plaza from 01/19/08 to 01/26/08. Have not stayed at an all-inclusive where you had to sign for every drink and meal. To get a drink at the pool bar, you had to order from the girl at the register, who gave you a receipt, which you then presented to the bartender, who then gave you your drink. Way too much time involved. Food was unimaginative and not good. One restaurant open at a time. You would have had better meals not going all-inclusive and eating at the Burger King down the street every night. Most of staff was not friendly and did not treat you like they wanted you back like in the other places we've stayed. In other places we've stayed, they always had young talented people getting you involved in volleyball, aerobics classes, etc. during the day and putting on shows at night. There was none of that to be found here. The only entertainment was a band in the lobby bar a couple nights. Beach was hard to walk or run on because of slope and it's so soft. I asked Luis at the Worry Free Desk if he had a map of the area. He said no, we don't have any. I walked over to the concierge desk and asked her if she had maps. She did and gave me one. Now why wouldn't Luis say "We don't have any but try the concierge desk." These people just don't care. Rooms were decent and the view was very nice. I certainly won't say that all the negatives ruined our vacation. We were in Mexico with 85-90 degree weather, hardly a cloud in the sky, with our friends and lots of laughs. But if you want good food, good service and good entertainment to go along with the good weather and cameraderie, don't stay at the Crowne Plaza.

OK not what I hoped
By ,
Rooms were clean but never could get the room safe opened. The bed was hard but correct size. Plenty of towels but they were "well used" Had a hard time keeping wash clothes. We had to ask for them most of the time. Beach was steep and the sand was very rough and soaked up the heat. Hotels very expensive and hours not convientant for our family. Pools nice and clean but closes at 8. I hear that most hotel pools in Acapulco closes at that time.... The exchange rate at the hotel is not good. Banks are much better. Wireless interent is very expensive so check rates before using it. (In the mall next door you can get on for 150 pescos (roughly 1.50) USD for up to one hour. or any part there of... I would not rate it at the 5 stars I would give it a 2 star rating....The rooms are good and cool which is an asset as the weather is terribly hot and humid...Loud music from lobby bar so if you like to go to sleep before 1 a.m. I recommend a room high up on the right looking from the front. That will also help if they are playing loud music at the hotel to the left.

Don't deserve a Crowne Plaza Brand
By ,
I'm really worried regarding why you include this hotel on the Crowne Plaza brand. This is terrible !!! I had stay in many Crowne Plaza in US and Mexico, and this hotel is far to deserv this category. Some of the problems: The bathrooms in a terrible state, the bathtub have the paint is oxidized, the wall have a lot repairs. The bedrooms are terrible, very very hard The TVs on the room, no comments, should have many years The pools don't have a good maintenance I changed 3 times of room, because maintenance problems I understand that It's a re-branded hotel, but this was a big mistake... This Hotel maybe deserve a Holiday Inn Express category... and this is Maybe !!!!! I'm really disappointed from my stay at this hotel. Emilio
