Way below standard
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/08/09
The hotel needs a desperate remodel. bathroom had mold, breakfast was awful, hotel was dirty. requested items such as extra towels, roll away was never delivered. "Clean towel" had feces on it!!!! What a rip off. I paid way too much money for this experience. Could have done better at Motel 6 and saved hundreds of $$$!!!! Oh by the way , they don't tell you that you can park across the street for FREE. Instead of having to pay $7 a day, in and out!!! Never again will I stay here. SAVE YOUR MONEY

Room was nice but that was about it
By BT81, 12/09/08
The room was very nice but I can't say the same about the rest of the hotel. I work for a Hilton and know the standards on what is expected of an employee and no one lived up to the standards. We had lunch in the restaurant the day after we got there and both ordered salads. They took 45 minutes to come out and there were only 5 other people in the restaurant at that time. We called down on a saturday night and were told that the shuttle would be running for 30 more minutes and we could get a ride to a restaurant. We went downstairs 15 minutes later and were than told that they wouldnt have time to take us and that we had to pay to take a cab. Than the phone rang and the employee answered it and completely ignored us after that. I also wasnt too happy with the fact that you had to pay $9.95 a day to use wireless internet in the room and the fact breakfast only went until 10:30 on weekends. I probably wouldnt stay there again.

Terrible Experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/05/08
The front desk staff was rude and acted like they could care less if I was there or not. The room was dusty and had cobwebs in it and I could swear I could hear rodents running through the vents all night long. I couldn't get a wink of sleep on the lumpy mattress. On a positive note I did get 10000 extra honors points when I complained to the General Manager.

Love Des Moines, love the river
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/22/07
Great location... near I-235, Locust/Grand, State Capitol, bus lines, chic retail, small restaurants, Museum, etc. Nor surprisingly, if hotel is full, services may not be as perfect as when it's not fully occupied. Tremendous value for hotel dollar... Farmer's market on Saturday mornings nearby, cocktail hour (get there 5 minutes early!), complimentary hot breakfast, pool, HBO, exercise room, two-room suite for about a hundred bucks is the best buy anywhere. We visit twice/year and it's great value.

LOVE the Hotel!
By Tracy, 02/28/06
I thought the atmosphere was great- it ws wide and open- with trees and a waterfall. My young son ran around the atrium area and a couple of managers even brought him a bouncy ball to play with. Breakfast was great- the omelets were fantastic- my husband had chocolate chip pancakes. We even had a cocktail at the reception- An ecellent value- huge suites, and a great location. All the hotels in the area charge for parking, so we did not feel this was a big deal.

I will never go back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/17/05
The description of the room was misleading. Champagne was not included as indicated in the price of the room. The room was shabby. There was an empty glass sitting outside the door when we checked in - and was still there when we checked out. There was an empty cracker package under the table. Parking? Why would any hotel make you pay for parking? The lot was 6.00 however, since thst was conveniently full - the basement was 12.00 There happened to be a Danish convention at the same time. They were not prepared for the number of people there. Happy Hour was a 15 minute wait for a drink - then no place to sit and nothing to eat since they ran out of snacks. Breakfast - in line for 15 minutes - got out and took the buffet. Cold eggs, cold french toast and cold bacon. Could not get to the juice because of the line. ONE working elevator. At one point we took stairs which led us to outside and a walk around the building to get back in. There were several unhappy people waiting for that elevator.

The Best Getaway on the River
By Kate, 08/28/05
My Stay at Embassy Suites was fantastic! Everyone was very polite. The check in process was simple and I was in my room in 15 minutes. The room was spotless and I had a great view of the river! I would recommend them to anyone who wants a night out in the middle of Des Moines hotspots or a quiet romantic getaway.
