Awesome hotel in beautiful location
By ,
I did a lot of research on the ME Hotel before my partner and I booked a six-night stay there. Let me say -- we were exceptionally happy with our visit. First of all, the hotel is a work of art. The interior design mixes a sense of contemporary style with a dose of comfort and luxury. Everywhere you turn in the hotel -- whether it be in the room or in the public areas -- there is something stunning to catch your attention. Check out the photos online, and you will get a good sense for the high style and design of the hotel. It's little wonder that MTV's Real World Cancun chose to tape their show at the ME Hotel. The ocean view from our room was incredible. The hotel has a wide, clean beach -- and the water was warm. The hotel also boasts several pools, and all sorts of poolside seating, including poolside beds (and beds in the water). It's the lap of luxury. They also have an adults-only pool, where lots of good looking people hung out. Great people watching. We had only two complaints about the pool area: the pool water was consistently too cold, and the club music sometimes was played too loud. Contrary to what some other guests claim to have experienced, we found that the staff were almost uniformly efficient, helpful, and pleasant. We had very attentive waiters as we sat poolside and ordered food and drinks all day. The front desk staff were ready to help at all times. Upon checking in, the staff brought champagne to my partner and me. You can't beat that! Room service was always timely, and they sent someone right up to the room when we requested assistance with our television. The hotel has three restaurants, all of which served delicious food. I highly recommend the daily brunch, which is expensive but offers the best brunch buffet I have ever seen at a hotel. I also was impressed with the range of amenities the hotel offered, from the full-service spa, gym, concierge service, rental car service on premises, convenience store, coffee shop, free Internet lounge, etc. It's what you would expect from a top-end hotel. As a gay couple staying in the hotel, we never felt out of place. There weren't too many gay couples there that we saw, but the atmosphere is definitely one of acceptance, which struck us very favorably. In sum, I would recommend the ME Hotel to anyone who wants to luxuriate in a trendy setting with lots of young people. This isn't a great hotel for families and children, (although the families seemed to be enjoying themselves). Instead, the hotel offers an unparalleled trendy and comfortable vibe that sucks you in and makes you want to spend your whole vacation on the premises.

Sleek, sexy, modern, beautiful!
By ,
ME Cancun is a beautiful hotel! The interior is straight from an Architectural Digest Magazine. From the lobby to the rooms to the restaurants, the spaces were amazing. The service was good. The staff would always say 'hi' to you in passing and the rooms were modernly decorated and VERY spacious! We we an ocean view room, the sun deck area was meticulously kept up all day and night. Very clean and very beautiful! I think they have four different dining restaurants to choose from. We did eat their breakfast which was REALLY pricey and not worth it. It is buffet style and for two people it cost us a little over $40. We also ate at their Mediterranean restaurant, Salt, and that was pretty good. And they had a sushi restaurant that also offered hibachi, called Silk. Very good sushi! And the price was not bad at all. Interiors were decorated tastefully! There's also a restaurant out on the sun deck called The Boathouse. They serve drinks out there while you're laying out. That was tasty as well. Also, inside there is a bar called the Rose Bar, a place to get on the internet and have coffee and drinks at E-Space. They had almost everything you needed for a relaxing vacation! The location was good too! There is a shopping mall that is only a 10 minute walk to the south of the hotel. And to the north, towards the bar area, there is another Mexican shopping experience as well. Great for bartering and good prices on souvenirs. And a little further north, great seafood restaurant called Lorenzillo's. Pricey but worth every lobster bite! Overall a great experience. Enjoyed our stay there!

Beautiful Hotel! Definitely a couple's getaway experience!
By ,
This hotel is beyond beautiful! it is truly breathtaking. Is very modern-contemporary and it just very luxurious. It truly makes Nikki Beach and the Delano(South Beach, Florida) look modest. You will not forget this place, that is for sure. As far as service, when we got there at 3:30PM there was no one to greet us at the door and we had to take our luggage to the front desk to check in. The staff at the front desk were very lost and we had to wait almost a full hour to check in. Our room was not ready and the front desk guy went to physically check on the room and just left us there- no phones perhaps? It ended up being Ok though as we were upgraded to a room on the 10th floor which was like a suite, so it was not too bad. We realized we had been upgraded as our room was in the 2nd floor and we were given a semi-suite on the 10th floor. The view from the floor lobby was spectacular, it showed the magnificient pool and ocean. We had a lagoon view, no balcony but it was fine. The ocean fronts lack some privacy as the balcony is on the open, as far as we could see. This hotel used to be the Melia Turquesa but after it was rebuilt, it is brand new and look nothing like the Turquesa. Food in the hotel was very expensive. We had dinner at the Silk and Salt Restaurant and it was $90 for a couple of drinks a steak and a shrimp cocktail! You are better off eating outside. I highly recommend El Cejas inside Market 28 for seafood and also La Parrilla close to the Wallmart for fresh meat cuts on the grill. Great places to eat good food at a very reasonable price. Also, there is a nearby shopping center, La Isla- the place is very pretty but too overpriced- you are better off going to Market 28 about 20 minutes away for half the price. It was very cold so we could not enjoy the beach or pools but it all looked very clean and spacious. Keep in mind that Cancun is not the same after the Hurricane and most of its sand is gone although you can tell they are doing their best to level it off. You may find yourself having to jump from where you are sitting to the water because there are wholes everywhere, specially because of the wind. Also there is a lot of construction going on and walking on the sidewalks is a nigthmare. Taxis are very expensive so take the bus if you can! I would not recommend this hotel to families, it is very adult oriented and does not have much activities for kids. If you are looking to get away with you significant other for a weekend to a calm and quiet place- this is it. The room was beautiful, clean and huge! The decoration was very excusite as well as very confortable. I will definitely come back to this hotel!

Just renovated.
By ,
Just renovated, looks amazing for anyone, who likes modern interiors and chill out music. Great pool area and beautiful beach. Very comfortable rooms (the photos are actual rooms!). Only thing is, you have to get used to Mexican service (slow..) and not so great food in the hotel. But drinks are awesome! Overall I loved it!!!! Chill out after party in Cancun!

We are going back
By ,
The service of Melia Turquesa Is SUPERB. They waited on my husband and I hand and foot. From the moment we arrived their service was steller. They immediately open doors and handled the luggage. As we whisked to the front desk. Check in took no more than 10 minutes we were served a delicous fruit smoothie at the check in. Which was a great touch. Even though we arrived in a ac van the drink was refreshing it was hot. The room was spotless. The floors shiny. The tub was immaculate as was the jacuzzi. It was spotlessly cleaned daily. Fresh water and coffee in the room every morning. There were many different activities evveryday all day leading to the hippest club for those who want to party. Pianist in the lobby bar.

Just bury me there...
By ,
This hotel was a dream come true. Luxurious, open & airy, romantic balcony views, an abundance of pools in beautiful natural surroundings, great bars, food & service. The staff was very accomodating, and the location was prime, easy access to everywhere. I can still feel the white powdery sand on my feet, with no heat, the silkiest sand anywhere. I loved watching and listening to the iguanas and birds all around. I enjoyed the privacy & safety also. Can't wait to go back.

My first time to Cancun
By ,
I just got back from here and really enjoyed the trip. I was a little disappointed the hotel didnt offer more diverse activities during the daytime. But the nightly shows were pretty good. The lobby bar bartenders were the best!! (THANKS) On the day we arrived, we weren't given a tour so we knew where they held some of the daytime activities. Most of the things we found on our own. But the beach may have been the best feature! Great beach area, a large pool, and for the most part, the time-shares didn't really bug you too much. I wasn't sure what to expect or how to spot them, and they are clever. You arrive at the hotel and they come right over to you and seem as though they are going to tell you about the activities at the resort. I talked to my rep for my vacation package, and was clued in by him the next morning that they were the timeshare ppl. The meals were pretty good. Would've like to see more of the authentic mex style, but very little of it. The beds take some getting used to but weren't too bad after a couple of days there. I know that a lot of ppl don't care for the hard beds, but my back didn't hurt when I got up in the morning! Had a great time and planning to return to Mx next Oct. Would possibly stay here again.

1ST TIMERS TO MEXICO AND THE MELIA TURQUESA
By ,
I want to let everyone know that the Melia Turquesa met all our expectations plus! Are stay was from June 19/05-June 26/05, and were all going back for sure. (HONEYMOONERS) I would like to thank Carlos (server) who is an awesome guy, also Evelio aka "Ricky Martin. We were also served by Dany and Jorge who are also great guys. Things that you should bring to Mexico is: 1. Patience - especially at the Airport 2. Tip money - approx. 100.00 US (everybody wants a tip in Mexico) 3. Aloe Vera- In case of a bad sun burn 4. If youre traveling from Canada you will need a pen for traveling documents that are given to you on the plane. (You will need this for Customs). 5. Basic first aid kit: Band-Aid, rubbing alcohol (we got bad blister from our new sandals) Things to do: 1. Jungle Tour: It's not a Jungle, but you get to go on a ski due. Be sure if youre afraid of water that this is something you want to do. The guide tends to be far away and doesn't really check up on you. 2. Isle of Medries (Island of the Women) Best Day Trip Ever! The boat ride on the way back home is a boozer cruiser. LOL! Best snorkeling ever! :) :) 3. Market 28: Be sure to check around first and see what the going rate is or you'll be had, but then again that's the whole experience. 4. Sky ride: fun. (But not good if youre afraid of heights) 5. Relaxing at the beach 6. At the Melia Turquesa you can go to the activities booth they have tones of more options. Overall, this is a fabulous place to go. We met lots of wonderful people and we were also sad to leave such a great place. Thank you to all of Melia Turquesa Staff. You guys Rock! P.S I read the reviews for months before I left, and I don't know why people are complaining.
