This is a horrible, horrible motel

This motel was filthy. The staff was rude beyond belief. We had a very large party staying at the hotel and I don't know ANYONE who enjoyed or were satisfied with their stay.
#1. Rooms are dirty. When we asked to have the room thoroughly cleaned, they claimed it was thouroughly cleaned prior to our arrival. If that's true, I have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you. After the "thorough" cleaning, there was still dirt/dust collecting in corners, etc. A thorough cleaning does not mean simply changing the linens and wiping down the sink.
#2 Painted-over toilet seats with exposed wood. Nothing screams bacteria breeding-ground like this.
#3 Dirty shower mats in tubs. Again....if they cleaned more thoroughly, a mat isn't needed.
#4 Musty, mildewy smell. This smell was prevalent in nearly every room. A friend had brought some scented oil candles and provided a number of us with paper towels soaked in the scented oil that we placed in the air conditioner vents.
# 5 Filthy Air Conditioners. How much time/effort does it take to vaccuum vents to get rid of the dirt/dust?
# 6 Sticky glass table tops. This relates to the thorough cleaning issues.
# 7 Blood on the bedskirt. Staff told me it was chocolate. No way, nice try.
# 8 Stains on the comforter.
# 9 No beach. Dirty, dredged-out swim area.
# 10 Cloudy pool.
# 11 Overflowing trash cans in swimming/pool/deck area.
#12 Beware the 72-hour cancellation policy. This is policy because they know that when you see the rooms/property, you will not stay.
#13 Overbilling / disallowing promotion rates. I know of 6 people in our party that were livid due to overcharging / wrong rates. In one case, they couldn't figure out how to fix the rate in the system, re-entered the reservation info and then tried to charge the couple for an additional room. When the couple balked and said they'd dispute the charges, the woman at the desk said: "We'll just charge your credit card, anyway."
I'm going to be monitoring this site and others, because I firmly believe that 90% of the positive reviews on here are from the hotel staff themselves....I can't prove this, it's just my belief. I may be wrong, but it's just my opinion.
