STAY AWAY!
By Veronica, 12/30/11
Used this hotel for my wedding. In the beginning the staff was AMAZING and catered to everything that I asked of them. Once the day came and my entire family checked in things started to change. The key to my bridal suite did not work, so I went to the front desk and asked for another. I was asked for I.D. and I informed them that everything was in my suite. The front desk gave me a hard time (remember I am the BRIDE) until I asked for a manager and he was more helpful. At the end of the night the bell boys helped us carry our gifts up to our suite. Never did the thought cross my mind that I needed to be worried about my gifts or anything going missing. The next day opening our gifts we noticed that someone had gone through the gifts and opened all of our cards. Over $500 in cash was taken and we were absolutely sure that it was the bell boys as that was the only time our gifts were out of our sight. When we contacted the hotel we were given the run around and told that a supervisor would contact us. We never heard from anyone even after my husband called numerous times and left several messages. A month later, I get my credit card bill and I see a charge for a shuttle that was not requested or even used by us. I contacted the hotel immediately and was told that they would have to look at their contract and get back to me. After numerous calls I was not offered a credit. I contacted my credit card and let them handle it. The hotel had the nerve to fax over my bridal suite bill with a page attached with NO singature stating that we had requested the shuttle. It was VERY obvious to the credit card that we had authorized the bridal suite and that was it. I am thankful that my credit card saw this and immediately issued me a credit. Never again will I stay here and if I were you I would go down the street to the Doubletreet even if you have to pay more! I hope the bell boys get to read this and I will assume that they were in dire need of the money more then we needed it and felt the need to STEAL from innocent people on their wedding day. Karma is a BITCH!

Will never go back.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/7/11
Nov. 3 By Tony Since our house was termite fumigated, me and my wife needed to spend two nights away and decided to stay at the Crowne Plaza. The room was clean and neat. The TV was old and outdated, bad picture (not a flat screen). The Air Conditioning was noisy, it sounded like alarm clock was going off every 5-10 minutes. The food was pricey and $450. for two days was not worth it. NEVER AGAIN

Experience was worse than low expectations
By Ksheep, 7/4/11
While our 2 night stay was booked through Priceline, so we knew there were no guarantees as far as number and size of beds, a quick and easy stay over before a cruise was such an experience that we will never stay at any Crowne Plaza again. As a family of 5 we were placed in a single-bed room, no niceties about it; not an apology (even if no fault of the person apologizing), not a sympathetic face, nothing. To have a rollaway bed, $15/night charge. To be moved to a 2 bed room for the second night would be a $10 charge. Internet access - you guessed it - $10/24-hour charge. A single serving of caffinated coffee was available in the room and was not even replaced when our room was made. To boot, the hallway almost directly in front of door was soggy; yes, soggy, the entire stay, so it was not from someone walking from the pool without a towel (we were on the 7th fl). When I reported it, it was clear that this was not a concern nor a priority for this hotel. I absolutely did not appreciate the nickel and dollar for amenities that are standard at any other hotel and this was simply made worse by the less than professional staff at this Crowne Plaza; however, I am not willing to give the chain the benefit of the doubt.

Nightmare at the Crowne Plaza
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/14/10
I started planning my dad's 80th birthday in November 2009. His Birthday party was planned for Saturday, 27 March 2010. I made hotel reservations at the Crowne Plaza some time in January. When I went to the hotel to check my parents in before the party (parents were late getting there) I was given their room key, etc., and was told that the plumbing was out, no hot water. I said my parents can't stay here. So they said they would put them up at the Doubletree. So I called mom and dad and told them what happened and they said, "that's O.K., we've already showered, we'll just stay there at the Crowne Plaza." So I went back in line and told them that mom & dad want to keep their room reservation. I told mom & dad when they check in to see Brenda - she knows you decided to stay at the Crowne. By the time mom and dad checked in, Brenda was gone. She relayed the info to the girls at the front desk about my mom and dad staying there afterall. But when my husband went to the hotel to pick up my parents for the Birthday Party, he was told they were not staying there - that they had put them on a shuttle and sent them to the Doubletree. My husband just recently had knee surgery but went to the Doubletree to pick them up. He was told at the Doubletree that they did not check in and they don't have a reservation. My husband called me and was very upset and said mom and dad are lost - they're not at either hotels. I told my husband they were at the Crowne Plaza. He told the girls at the front desk and the Manager that my parents were dropped off and the bell boy took up their luggage. They were yelling at my husband and saying "they are not here." At one point they were so mad at my husband they were about ready to kick him out of the Hotel. I went ahead and called the Crowne Hotel and said, "I want to speak with the Manager - she transferred me to his number and I got a recording." I called back and yelled at them not to send me to a voicemail, but to put the manager on this line - do not transfer me!" I never was connected to the manager. I told my husband to call dad on his cell phone. Found out that mom and dad were checked in at the Crown Plaza but the front desk people never entered their names back into the computer. My dad's party started at 6:00pm. I threw this party for my dad and had planned on greeting everyone as they came in, but I arrived late because I had spent so much trying to track down mom and dad. Even worse, everyone else in line was getting a 50% discount if they chose to stay there. I was not given a discount because I had prepaid. I will never, ever, ever stay at this hotel nor refer anyone to do so. We never received an apology, or a discount. We did receive 2 comp breakfast tickets for the next day. I told them "Keep them - Mom and Dad were having breakfast at my house the next day so these would be no good - they were only good for the next day." Business must be booming for them because it didn't seem to bother them that they messed up or ever apologized. The night at the Plaza was a gift for mom & dad to relax before the party, get dressed there, get picked up by my husband to be taken to the Ports O'Call Restaurant, and not have to drive home afterwards. I'll never forget this horrific experience!! You can only imagine what kind of mood I was in by the time I arrived at the party!!

Horrible service
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/15/09
After we came back from our cruise our bags were loaded into the shuttle. The driver apparently did not lock the door. One of our bags fell out, another couple had lost 2 bags - it is like pulling teeth with a very rude manager to get our bags claimed. He refuse to tell us who are they insured with, he was sarcastic and very accusing - as if we had something to do with the problem!! Stay away...

This hotel was a fantastic find!
By stella, 11/13/07
The rooms were great, clean and very comfy! The service from the entire staff from beginning to end was wonderful. We came the day before our cruise and the location (close to the pier)was perfect. They offered free shuttle service to a free harbor cruise, a quick trip to a drugstore, and to the pier the day of the cruise (and back after)! We left our car in their valet parking during the cruise and came back to it safe and sound. We would come back and stay here for any reason, not just pre-cruise.

Typical Harbor Hotel
By Dave, 8/5/05
If you are going on a cruise ship or to Catalina from San Pedro, then you may want to consider staying here as traffic can be brutal getting here. The service and proximity to the cruise terminals are the only good points for this hotel. The rooms are in need of updating and we were told that will happen soon. If they do update, then we'll go back. We also chose to stay here because if you love Greek food, eat at Papadakis Taverna located about a block away. We have eaten there many times. It is the best Greek food you'll find outside Greece! Seriously.

Warning!
By mike, 7/31/05
The place needs renovating badly and the food is not very good. We did the park and sail and returned to find that our vehicle which was left with the valet, was broken into. The hotel is not going to make good on the loss. I would consider other local hotels.

quiet...room with a view of a bridge
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/7/05
Los Angeles harbor is not the most attractive Southern California landmark, but the Shearton's sound proof rooms offer a unique persepective of the traffic on the Vincent Thomas Bridge and comings and goings of countless crusie ships and cargo transports; this beehive of activity serves as backdrop for efficient, friendly, and centrally located hotel.
