Going on nearly 20 years
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/17/09
The first time I went to Baumann's was with a young man, his family, and a couple of friends. It is now 19 years later. We still make the annual pilgramage but the numbers have changed. This is the one place my 4, (yes 4) kids look foward to going to every year. (Keep in mind we also go to Disney every year, but this is the one place they look foward to going) It is great for people of all ages, from the littlest to the oldest. IIf you are looking for a place to relax and unwind then this is the place to go. I am actually headed there today, so gotta go...don't want to miss supper

Had its good points...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/26/07
First, what I liked..I didn't have to cook or worry about food. Nice pirate ship play area..great people staying there..warm atmosphere..nightly entertainment enjoyable and for both family/adult at once.. Flipside...in minutes of arriving found:hair on blankets and in sink, daddy longlegs on wall, flies in room and flyswatter in top drawer. Holes in bedspread..older fixtures and outdated feel to the whole place( not that this is terrible, just unexpected for the price).. within hours: decided pool area is nice, but was the water that clean??? Tennis court a bit run down with sagging net.. Expect to read signs asking you to tip the waitstaff and cleaners..and they do deserve one, but for 300-plus dollars a night for a family of five to stay one night, we didn't feel like shelling out "extra" for what we thought online were basic inclusions..silly us! Oh yeah, the glasses had spots-Calgon, anyone? and no one changed the dirty tablecloths between meals..I am not highbrow or judgemental, but would like people who have never been to know what to expect...I think many return for the whole package..it is just not a great value even for upstate..

By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/08/07
Late nite cafe rocks!!!! Bring on the horse racing and Create a shirt! Their cocktail partayyy was the best partaaay I have ever been to. I pray for rain so we could play BINGO with Carla. Lets not forget Johnny Z in da HIZZLE!!! Moment of silence for the great Game Farm!

Great family fun & value
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/13/07
Baumann's Brookside provides good food, great fun, and plenty of activities for all ages. We have been meeting family and friends every Memorial Weekend to start the summer. Great values for a family. The "horse races" are my favorite.

the best family place left in ny
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/02/06
the place is very family oriented. great for kids.the food is good. the amount of food you get is enough for two, or three one serving.the price is great. this is the first time i went and i will be back many times an years to come. close to all attractions. the family run business is truly a family place. they are great people. you don't know what you are missing. the best family place in ny.

Bingo Madness
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/11/06
My family has been going to Baumann's for years- I am a part of the third generation. We always have a great time, and some of the activities are truly entertaining (my mom thinks the band is the same one that played when she was a child...). However, everyone up there is waayyyy too bingo obsessed! Bingo, bingo, BINGO! If I ever have to hear the obnoxious cry "5-0...fifty!" ever again, I will go on a murderous rampage. (Not really of course) They even made us play by candle light when the power went out.........drat you bingo players!!!!!!!!

3 generations have been here
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/08/06
It is truly a place with memories to last a life time. My parents started coming in the l960's with their friends from Queens, NY. I was about five. We came every year until their death in 1995 (mom) and 2001 (dad). I am now 54 and brought my children when they were young and we still go now. They are in their twenties and love it. Great food, great hospitality and a chance to enjoy the simple things in life. Hope to someday have grandchildren of my own to bring.
