What's the big deal?
By ,
I was so disappointed with all of Mt. Charleston. I'm from Ca, and I used to visit Big Bear every year, so here I was expecting the same atmosphere. No such luck, no shops, no real restuarants, no entertainment, nothing. It's very pretty there I must admit. I took my two granddaughters thinking we'll make a day out of shopping and eating. The lodge was a dump, the employees we're not that friendly. So we had hot coco that cost me $9.00 for three. A dollar a drink would have been plenty. We then decided to visit the Mt. Charleston hotel. Well it looked so pretty on the internet, and I thought there would be some activities, no such luck there either. We has a very expensive lunch $30.00 for Chicken wings, strips and a burger, the waiter almost dumped the tray on my granddaughter. Then had the nerve to blame another co worker for his mistake. The gift shop if that's what you call it, only sold t-shirts. We did hike some and enjoyed the beautiful mountains and fresh air. It is pretty but if you go and plan on doing things like other resorts, forget it. It's a place to go if you want to get away and not do a thing but sleep and hike.

over priced
By ,
nothing to do should be the name of this place, rooms dirty, food overpriced, parking lot dirty, they call the cook in the kitchen a chef, I've had better food in a greasy spoon, the front desk doesn't know anything, ask for toilet paper and you'd better bring your own. The gift shop gets the're notions from the dollar store and sells them for five dollars, souveniers are tacky t-shirts, the phone systems never answers when you call to reserve and the bar area smells like an old saloon, forget about this place and just make it a day trip.

We will not be returning
By ,
The customer service at the front desk is poor. They don't seem to know about events being held in their facility and are not much help otherwise. We found the staff to be arrogant and less the customer service friendly. The facility is not handicap friendly with the cobble front walk and no elevator whatsoever. The staff is more interested in getting their work done than in taking care of the clients who help pay for the rooms to allow their salaries to be paid. Unfortunately, we used to have business events at this hotel several years ago and stopped because of cost and lack of service. It is too bad that nothing has changed, except remodiling of the hotel.

Get Lost & Forgotten
By ,
You have left Las Vegas & want to ski, this is the place. Laid back & out of sight, drive further up the mountain, ski & drink all day at the las vegas ski & snowboard resort. Drive back down exhausted, couple of miles later, hotel in view, wonderful sight, lights aglow, warm fires blazing, somewhere. A warm drink waiting at the bar, friendly young bar staff enquiring, how was your day? Marvelous, thanks.PS,skiers are outnumbered almost 4 to 1 by snowboarders!

VERY DISSAPPOINTED - PLACE WAS RUBBISH
By ,
We stayed 2 nights. First arrived and was snowing outside. The heater in room didn't work and was told to wait 2 hours for it to warm up. After 2 hours were then told would have to wait 24hrs because unit was frozen - unreal !!!. After demanding another room we were finally moved. No handtowles, below average reception staff and below average resturant that couldn't even charge meals to room. Second night the heating stopped at 1 in the morning so woke to freezing room. After complaining they refunded 1 nights stay. While there we heard 2 other guests complaining and one saying worst hotel that they had ever stayed in - place is in a great spot, sad about the condition and management. Wouldn't recomment

We love it!!!
By ,
We go to Mt. Charleston every year, and have been for the past 4 yrs. We stay at the Mt. Charleston Inn.(new lodge). It has a spectacular view! It is clean, romantic and you will even love the fire place! The view is out of this world! You can't believe that Vegas is only 30 min. away! We love it! See you again next month!!

Loved the scenery
By ,
My boyfriend and I spent Valentines Day at The Mt Charleston Resort. We loved it! It seems like it is under new management. Our room was clean and well kept. We enjoyed our dinner at the restaurant. We recieved complimentary chocolate covered strawberries, which was such a nice surprise. The resort is such a nice, close escape from Vegas. The scenery was wonderful. Our room had a view of the snow covered mountains! What a great weekend!

great weekend getaway
By ,
Stayed at this hotel for a weekend snowboarding trip. It was such a short drive from vegas and was close to Lee Canyon. I will stay here every time i go snowboarding now and maybe even to go hiking in the summer. They have live entertainment on Sat night, which was fun. I also enjoyed my room and the staff. Service was great!

NEEDS IMPROVEMENT
By ,
Great restaurant, bistro, and bar but.... Bathroom in standard room are lacking maintenance (broken tiles, mildew on tiles and shower curtains, cracked sink); Dirty dishes in arcade upstairs and outside in the patio by the bistro. Appetizers served with dirty plates and some menu items are not available. What is available is served in very large portions (have a large appetite because no fridge or microwave in rooms).
