What's the big deal?

I was so disappointed with all of Mt. Charleston. I'm from Ca, and I used to visit Big Bear every year, so here I was expecting the same atmosphere. No such luck, no shops, no real restuarants, no entertainment, nothing. It's very pretty there I must admit. I took my two granddaughters thinking we'll make a day out of shopping and eating. The lodge was a dump, the employees we're not that friendly. So we had hot coco that cost me $9.00 for three. A dollar a drink would have been plenty. We then decided to visit the Mt. Charleston hotel. Well it looked so pretty on the internet, and I thought there would be some activities, no such luck there either. We has a very expensive lunch $30.00 for Chicken wings, strips and a burger, the waiter almost dumped the tray on my granddaughter. Then had the nerve to blame another co worker for his mistake. The gift shop if that's what you call it, only sold t-shirts. We did hike some and enjoyed the beautiful mountains and fresh air. It is pretty but if you go and plan on doing things like other resorts, forget it. It's a place to go if you want to get away and not do a thing but sleep and hike.
