This is not a resort at all. I have stayed in the Motel 8 with better living arrangements than this place. You have to order towels and trash pick up 24 hours in advance and had to wait up until 3pm the next day to receive, the furniture is old and worn out. The place was hot with only one airconditioner in the bed room the rest of the linving area is hot and uncomfortable. They ran out of fans to supply to us. There was a water leak in the hallway on the 6th floor the ceiling was falling down. The bathroom tub had what looked like a blood stain in it bleach didn't remove it we went next door to my relatives unit to shower. The owners of this place should be ashamed. My advice to you is to stay away from this place find a Motel 8 they have a balcony and towels when ever you need them. The only plus was the staff was very friendly.

Very nice timeshare
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/12/09
Heard a lot of bad press, but this place impressed me. Location is prime, people were nice, and rooms were clean. Kitchen was very usable (the fridge was big enough to store all my groceries for the week!) and view out of the bedroom was awesome--up high enough to see a lot of activity on the ocean. Pool as nice to have (same floor as our room) and let us relax even though it rained a couple of days. Would've like to have wireless internet in the room, but I'll come back if we vacation in VA Beach again! Thanks!

Dont Waste Your Time or Money
By Stacey, 09/07/08
My father owns a time share at this place. My husband, daughter and I recently stayed there. Where to begin... this is the only place on the entire beach that does not have a balcony. That sucked! The units were so small I literally felt like I couldnt move, like the walls were closing in on me. The dishes in the room were dirty when we got there. The pool left alot to be desired. Windows were boarded up in there, carpets were nasty, it was ridiculous. You can only park one care in the parking garage. I witnessed several staff members parking in the garage while owners had to park two blocks away. The elavators are a ticking time bomb. The take 10 minutes or more to use because the staff are forever tying them up, and when you do get one you pray that its going to get you to your floor. They claimed to be short staffed one day causing us not to get our clean towels until later that afternoon, and the following day the pool opened late because an employee was coming in late. There is no beach access from the beach side of the building, you have to go around the building to get to the ocean. The furniture is extremely old, stained and outdated. Overall, I would not recommend buying into this or even staying there. They should be giving membership away. And one last warning.. dont go down stairs to the restaurant. The food is overpriced and the liquor is watered down.

Never Again
By jcw, 08/25/08
After paying for this for a year and paying high maintanance fees and renovation fees; we were sadly dissappointed. The units are outdated and very small. There are no balconys to enjoy the ocean scents and view. Being a smoker, we were forced to go outside the motel to smoke. If we had known this in advance we certainly would not have purchased. Only one parking space per room, all other vehicles must go over a block away to park. The elevators are a long wait; most of the time we were waiting while the staff utilized the elevators, over 10 minutes to get to our room. This was supposed to be a vacation and it turned out to be alot of work, little enjoyment. I couldn't believe that we had the only hotel on the water without balconys, what a crock. The lobby is beautiful, very misleading considering the rest of the hotel is worn out, displeaseling to the eye and very outdated. Needless to say this will be our first and last visit. Our money went to rentovating the exterior first, no ones stays outside the interior should have been first so owners could enjoy their stay.

Not Bad At All
By The HUMP, 06/10/08
You get what you payed for, being an owner of a Dockmaster Unit,(bedroom, 2 baths) we have no problems with this place. Yes the place needs an overhaul with the decor and beds, they seem to be stuck in the 70's. According to the owners letter we get, that will be taken care of in the next 2 years. So if your stuck in a cabin boy I feel sorry for you. Stayed for 2 weeks over the Memorial Day holiday, had a great time, some people just don't know how to handle things I guess. We had now bug problems and the staff was terrific, asked for extra towels and got them in a timely manner. Maintenance dept was right there when I needed a ceiling fan replaced. Saw where some people complain about no place to hang beach towels as there are no balconies, Duh hang them on the shower bar, I mean come on people. Only complaint I have is with the cafe on the first floor, the owners of this place do not seem to care about it as they have other eateries on the ocean front. The hotel has nothing to do with the place. It could be so much better, the staff were fine, it's the outragous prices they charge, you can go 1 block from the place and find the same thing for $1-$2 cheeper. They need to re-think what they are trying to do there. You need some help give me a call. We will be back

Don't Waste Your Money!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/02/08
As an owner of a unit at this resort, I can say just about anything here and it doesn't matter. I will still be stuck paying for this units maintenance fees, for the rest of my life. I've owned since 2004 and I've stayed 2 weeks out of the 4 that I should have. This place is awful. The carpets are gross with dark stains on them, the floors all unlevel, noticably to the eye, the furniture outdated, the rooms and halls all smell of smoke, despite the fact that it is a non smoking hotel now. The bathrooms have all had some kind of issue, whether a broken drain, towel bar, or shower door. (This happened to me last time and the glass door almost fell down on me!) I was moved to another room only to have the same issues with that bathroom. So every owner is paying for these renovations, that are taking forever, but there doesn't seem to be anything going on in the rooms. (The place where a guest would be most likely to worry about the appearance.) When I purchased this unit I was shown a beautiful picture of a spacious room...this is not what I got. I feel bad for out-of-towners who look at the website and think that they will get one of those great rooms. And about the view.....come on now, it's still Virginia Beach, one of the dirtiest beaches in the country. The staff has, for the most part, been helpful, and the holiday lights are neat to look at, but, Tourists, you do not have to stay in this dump to look at those. The sister resorts, I'm told, are nicer and cleaner. Try Ocean Keys or the Atrium.

Owner that is very disappointed
By UCPILLDOC, 11/24/07
When Ocean Sands invited me to the presentation to buy at this timeshare, I was more than happy to do so. That was about 4 years ago or so. I had not been back since, but when I did, I was very disappointed. I decided to go the week of Thanksgiving since I would be home visiting family. I also thought the Christmas lights would be nice for my 2 year old. When I drove up, I thought the building was closed. It looked condemned. When I got up to the 2nd floor, it smelled terrible. From the moment I opened the door from the garage, I was disappointed. The carpets were old and ugly, the hall walls the same, the laundry room was disgusting and out of order. My air conditioning/heating unit broke. The maintenance guy was great and got me a new unit but it was about 1am when he finished. The windows were very, very dirty and made it hard to see at night. The carpet in the room gave me the creeps. My 2 year old kept getting on the floor and I was nervous about that. Honestly, the cleanest part of the room was the bathroom since there was no carpet. The elevator looked unreliable. I walked the parking garage whenever I wanted to do something or go somewhere (outside). THANK GOD I WAS ON THE SECOND FLOOR. I would not recommend staying here. I hope they get this fixed, because I see I am wasting my money -definitely

Be Aware!!!!! Be very aware!!!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/11/07
Let me start by saying that the cleanliness of the hotel(inside) was good, the outside looked awful. The staff was friendly. good view of ocean. but when it comes to putting a hold on your credit card, be very careful...ask alot of questions.. the YOUNG girl that checked us in did not know what she was doing.she didn't put 100. she put a hold in the amount of 494.20...which is totaled from the whole week stay(315.36), 78.84 we'd already been charged for plus 100.00..needless to say it messed up our account and now I have to pay overdrawn charges.which we will not be reimbursed for...and we told her we were going to pay CASH for the rest of the week's stay...I talked to the manager...and he gave me the run around so I told him we'd never stay there again and I hung up on him.. I don't advise staying unless you want to put up with this kind of mess......
