Howard Johnson JFK Airport, Jamaica

Well I have to give this place a one star only because there is not a way to give negative stars. This is by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. From the moment we called for a shuttle to pick us up at the airport it was horrible. The lady who works in the morning shift was so rude from the minute she answered the phone. This was our first time in New York and the front desk woman didn't even bother to tell us where to go to get the shuttle then when we missed the shuttle she tried to blame us telling us that we were not there and the driver waited for 15 mins. for us. I think she should be fired for her lack of customer service and a bad ass attitude. She was super rude to me and my family from the moment we walked in the doors. Then told us that we didn't have a reservation and that we must be at the wrong hotel and insisted that I call and get a reservation number instead of just calling the main office to confirm our reservation. Then finally after I gave her the reservation number and the main office confirmed our reservation she gave us a room. When another customer who by the way was the same nationality as the employee came up to ask her a question she was as nice as possible then right back to being rude to everyone else. I would never recommend this place to anyone and this hotel company has lost any potential business from me for good. That one employee made a very nasty impression on what this hotel chains represents. Oh and to put the cherry on the cake it was in the most ghetto part of town worse than even the ghetto in Oakland.

I liked the location right off the freeway, on the bus route, and on the same block as the Burger King. I also liked the very clean room, nice tv, great free breakfast, and friendly staff. For $76.00/night w/free breakfast and free parking in New York City, who could complain? Was the neighborhood bad? I walked up and down the main streets (Rockaway and Sutphin), went to church in the area (St. Pius V), and rode the bus every day and had NO problems whatesoever. So, how is this working-class neighborhood bad? I'd definitely stay here again. RJT

This hotel really disappoints. Sold as a 3 star bit its actually a rip off one star hotel with one star service. Unhelpful rude staff, disgusting rooms which they will not swap for you if you are not satisfied, small double bed passed as a Queen size and THERE IS NO INTERNET SERVICE EITHER if you are thinking of checking in online. Additionally we were lied to about the airport shuttle bus and ended up having to get a taxi in the end. Very poor quality all round with 3 star prices, very very disappointing.
