Not to be recomended
By meshmesh, 9/15/10
Very bad management, different departments i.e reception, restaurant, animation team have no idea of the other personel work or place and cant give u any directions or info. Had a plumbing problem at my bathroom and it took them 48 hours to repair it after several complaints Food has no taste or flavour u can rarely find something tasty, Beach is huge but u can only swim in a very small rectangle of sea, so imagine if all the guests are in the sea in the same time!! The hotel is huge with rare directions on the places, restaurant or facilities. I really doubt its run by a swiss chain!!!

More like a school yard than a luxurious hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/6/08
There are many positive aspects to this very nice hotel - lovely gardens, great beach, fantastic staff, decent choice of food (beautifully presented and hygienically monitored), amazing snorkelling and spotlessly clean ... but.... please be aware that it is 'family friendly' and as such there are many many children and toddlers running around. The noise of shrieking, screaming and wailing was sometimes unbearable, to the oblivion of their parents. Throughout the day this is avoidable as the hotel grounds and beach are big enough to find a quiet corner but meal times are a different matter, when many hundreds of people converge in very busy areas and the restaurants are more akin to school canteens. Whilst I appreciate it is not the hotel's fault that many parents let their offspring run amok, it would have been very nice to have had an 'adult only' bar and restaurant to be able to relax in. Even at night, children were being taken into the lobby bar so their parents could have drinks after dinner. By this time they were over excited, tired and fractious, chasing each other, playing hide-and-seek amongst the sofas and skidding across the marble floors. We eventually took to going back to our room at night with a bottle of wine (£15 a time) and sitting on the balcony - something I think the parents should have been doing, not other guests. We may have been simply unlucky and dropped on a European school holiday but ... message to hotel .... please provide Adult Only areas, especially in the evenings.

not a 5 star hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/20/07
This is not a 5 stars hotel, even for Egyptian standards (compared to Luxor or Cairo). Rooms are poorly furnished and if other reviews say otherwise then I am afraid these people haven't been in a real 5 stars hotel. The food is average and I was never able to taste real food like a steak. The pasta is made fresh but anything that goes through their water (like the fresh veggie) tastes like chlorine. In the all inclusive drinks quality is low. Juices are made from powdered stuff and wine tastes cheap, ice is hardly available. The diving center is run by Germans, but the guides are local and they make up for all the fun and they were all awesome. This diving center is not affiliated with the hotel, so you have to pay for everything even the food. The price per dive is 20 euro but then you get charged for other things and it gets to be 50! (some divers were charged 7 euro for the tea drinkage). Also bring a lot of cash to pay for it because you get charged an extra 5% on the total bill if you pay with visa!!! Pools are great, gym is small, but the real disappointment is the spa. The health center is run by a bunch of guys that call each other doctors (I would love to see their degree...). The towels are never replaced. While I was getting my facial, there was somebody smoking on the other side of the curtain. After the mask, the "doctor" asked me to get up to go to the sink to rinse my face!?! Even the massage was not good and strangely enough found my knee or elbow stuck in the doctor's crotch... Massage is done with your swimming suit on and actually you want it that way. The layout of the hotel is very dispersed and you really have to find out where everything is because nobody is going to tell you. Mister Salim likes guests to discover by themselves all the facilities, but in reality he is trying to save money on anything he can. Also don't forget to check out not later than 12 o'clock otherwise you will have to pay a 50 euro surcharge ... (not much flexibility like other hotels). Good luck to you if you have already booked and try to make the best out of it. We are not going back :(

By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/24/07
This resort hotel is built in very high style of construction and the architacture is very special ,huge swimming pools, lot of anymation without disturbance. It is Westeren European hotel(of course international),Italians,Belg, Germans,Swiss,Austians,English,Dutch,French, high quality food & beverage and service, A Bank, automatic teller machines, food and beverage the best I saw in many ofmy travels usualy in the resorts we visit one time and we like to change to see somthing new but defenetly I will come back, they have an avarage health club which needs to have more spa vareyties, the Machines in the health club are OK but they have to have more massage vareyti, also the distance from Hurgada airport is about 1 houre and 45 minutes.but it is still worth it

By Michael W, 2/7/07
akassia swiss resort is really a great place to visit. If u go there u would enjoy everything, the service is outstanding people there are extremely helpful and they serve u with the beautiful egyptian smile on their faces.whatever your language is it'll be easy to comunicate, but if ur italian or german u'll feel just at home.the food is great, the pools, the beach is also good but in sharm it's better.the best thing I enjoyed about it, was the animation team, they're very lively doing great programs all day long, also the night show is fantastic that you'll never get bored (especially the comedy show ).the discotheque was marvellous with the dj, it rocks ! akassia is really awesome !!!

Fantastic
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/25/07
We are not newcomers to Egypt, We have been 6 times now, twice to Sharm, once to Hurghada,Luxor and Cairo and Marsa Alam. We arrived at Marsa Alam Airport which is a private Airport, You have to arrange Transfers before you go as no Taxi's at Airport. Small Airport with not alot of shops on the way out. We were a Family of 7, 2 Adults, 1 OAP and 4 Children Aged 15,13,10 and 7 so wide range of ages. Akassia is about 1 hour from the Airport in the middle of the Desert on the Sea. We arrived about 6pm Egyptian time, Checkin was easy with welcome drinks in a beautiful Reception with a very large dome made by hand in brick (unbeleavable) and a large bar area, marble floors and cosy chairs with a couple of small shops. We had two rooms, one set for 3 and the other set for 4, both were on ground floor with pool view, Large rooms and very clean, They were cleaned every day to a very good standard. The Hotel is set in very large grounds with large heated pools, a large jacuzz pool with a view to die for. A wave pool that inpressed the children. Set on the beach you can walk into the sea and snorkel there, also there is a peer where you can see amazing fish when snorkeling off there. Camels and Quad bikes are on the beach which you can go on for a fee but not too expensive. We did the camel ride which was interesting. The Animation team were fantastic all day and at night they had a show diferent every night from belly dancing to fire eating and knife shows not to be missed, comerdy shows, we have never had entertainment as good in all the time we have been to Egypt, we expected no entertainment at night but was very impressed with this hotel, Most spoke in English too even though there were only a dozen english in the hotel mainly Italians,Germans and Russians. The Restaurant was large with very frendly staff from the Chief's to the Waiters. There are 3 restaurants but we only used the main one and the pool bars (3) served food when the restaurants were shut. also the recepion bar served sandwhiches at night between 11pm and 12 midnight. We had no bad tummy's and the food was fantastic even the children ate,ate and ate all day long. There is always something to eat and drink. As we went all inclusive which is recomended. Think im writing too long now but this is a 5 Star hotel which I would say going on First Class. GO AND SEE FOR YOURSELF YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPOINTED.

Beware!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/9/06
We recently stayed on a two week all inclusive deal and were very disappointed with the quality of the hotel, the isolation of the hotel, and the very limited choice of restaurants within the resort. We were led to believe that there were four restaurants. Infact, only one place to eat breakfast, two places for lunch, but the beach pizza restaurant stunk of camels - highly unpleasant, and one place for dinner except Tuesdays, when the pizza restaurant became the fish restaurant!!!. Not for us at 25 Euros per person, when we had laready paid for the all inclusive deal. Snacks were extremely limited around the hotel. Very little to do for children aged between 7 and 12. It was good for the little ones and the adults but nothing in between. We also had problems with things going missing from the room, and didnot find the staff helpful at all and were totally disbelieving. Only if we tipped heavily did things seem to get done! Even the towel attendants tried to exchange us short on the change overs!!! Tennis courts are an absolute disaster with very uneven surfaces and are extremley dangerous to play on. Very easy to break a leg on!!!Lighting was also a nightmare to get switched on at night! The shops in the hotel are an absolut ripoff and would suggest buying any souvenirs at the airport for half the price of the hotel prices. This resort is most definitely geared to taking Italian guests and found ourselves in a minority - only 15 English guests there whilst we were there. We definitely will NOT be returning here, as we have visited other hotels in Marsa Alam and Hurghada at Easter and Christmas and this resort falls far short of its five stars.
