Avoid at all costs

I work in the tourism industry and this is without a doubt the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. From the minute I checked in to the grateful moment that I was finally able to check out, it was one thing after another. Unfortunately, I had no choice as the hotel was chosen by event organizers and all of our travel arrangement were from the hotel - otherwise I would not have spent even one night.
From a dirty room with somebody's hair on our towels and linens to the broken furniture - the room was disgraceful. The staff at check in although they were not quite rude, they certainly did not go out of their way to make you feel welcome. As I was there with a group, I was forced to sign a contract with more rules and regulations than I had when I was in public school or I could not even check in to the hotel. The pool was so small that after the first night, the children in our group did not even want to swim in it and the hot tub was not working.
Other than a Tim Hortons and a McDonalds, there is nothing in the area that is not at least a half hour walk, so make sure that you have transportation or it is going to be a long stay with nothing to do. I took work with me, but the lighting in the room was so inadequate that I could not see well enough to do my work. There was a public area on my floor by the banquet facilities. Very well lit, so I went there and sat down on a chair and used a small table to do my work. About half an hour after I had started working, an employee of the hotel told me that they were closed. I thought it was some sort of a joke so I started to laugh and continued with my work. I was again told that they were closed and I could not sit there. I was stunned. Needless to say, I let the staff member have a piece of my mind, but was still told that I could not use the area even though I was doing nothing wrong and making no noise or mess what so ever. The hotel does not offer any business services or work areas and made it impossible for me to do any of the work that I had taken with me. All of this in the first 24 hours of a 4 day stay.
One of the members of our group went for a walk and tripped in a landscaping hole on the property that was not marked at all. This person ended up with 5 facial fractures and a broken nose. The attitude of the hotel staff was so poor that she did not even persue the matter with management. She felt it would be nothing but a waste of her time as the staff clearly did not care that she had been injured as a result of their carlessness.
The restaurant is also to be avoided. The food is awful and expensive. McDonalds or Tim Hortons is a much better choice - or you can order in, but don't eat at the resaurant. The hotel also hosted our banquet and they actually ran out of food. I have never been to a buffet that ran out of food and what they did have was not very good.
I had a slight cold when I checked in, however I now have pneumonia as the hotel does not have adequate hot water and I was forced to shower in cold water every day.
I wish I had something posative to say about this hotel, but there just is nothing good to say about it. I could go on, as there is a large list of problems with this place, however I strongly recommend that you stay anywhere but here. Upon checking out, I was all set to let them know what I thought of their hotel, but I was not even asked if I enjoyed my stay. They asked me if there were any problems with my bill and then said goodbye. That was it - done. No thank you, no how was your stay, no please come back and see us again. Just give us your money and get out! This hotel does not even deserve a one star rating, but I had to pick something for this review.
Please, if you want to have a good time, don't stay here. If you are organizing an event or booking a group, don't stay here - the group rate is over $100 and totally not worth it. I have stayed in $50/night hotels that were better than this one. Stay away from this place.
