a disappointment
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/14/05
The physical space in the lobby is great, as is the independently operated "Town" restaurant. But the rooms are clutterd, dirty, and worn. Worst, however, is the staff - or lack thereof. Imagine paying upwards of $500 per night at a hotel that does not have (and never had) a concierge. The young doomman, if there is one on duty, serves sort of as the concierge ... and will be glad to steer you to any number of characterless dives affordable on a doorman's budget. Forget asking for anything beyond a lousy restaurant recommendation. Actually, the doormen are perfectly good guys, but this just should not be their job, and they do not do it effectively. This is just one example among many of the totally amatuerish "service" in all respects.

Unreliable
By calvin, 10/11/05
The Chambers Hotel would not honor reservations that that were confirmed both by phone and in writing (by email). Who can risk dealing with a hotel that pulls a stunt like this?

A great find!
By KaronneJ, 9/27/05
I thought this hotel was very stately. I found it to be uniquely elegant and very crisp looking. At the same time it felt very comfortable and so i would really recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

Being trendy in Midtown
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/23/05
This is by far the most amazing trendy hotel I have stayed at. On the street you do not even know it's a hotel. Once you figure it out, you walk through 2 wood doors of massive size into a duplex lobby. But you don't have to push the doors yourself, when you have 2 doormen welcoming you with open arms. Tell them you are guest and you need to check in and you are escorted to the front desk that awaits on the right. The front desk staff was so great! From booking restaurants down to getting hours and locations of places to shop. As the friendly smile welcomes you checking in, you will notice the lobby seating area. A great place to unwind, have a cocktail from the TOWN bar and maybe just relax before being secluded in a hotel room. Pieces of art hang on the walls throughout the lobby and hallways. Each guest floor has a different art. The design is modern and still comfortable. A desk is provided, CD's are provided for your CD/Alarm clock which plays mellow tunes to set the mood. The bath room is large with an 8-inch showerhead which I absolutely want one. And I can't forget the location...you are in the middle of Midtown...so close to Central Park, Times Square, the theatre district. If you are going to stay at a hotel in NYC and you want to be in the mist of it all, this is the place to stay.

amazingly hip
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/21/04
Very cool place with a great location.
The room was unique and very modern but the best part was the art and the shower lined with stone and built for two !
I have booked guests there and they all enjoyed it and the famed restaraunt Town.
