Bad experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/10/07
We stayed here in March, 2007 with reservations being made 3 months in advance, and a phone call made 1 week prior to check on reservations, and specifically asked Rhonda(who answered the phone)if the beds were pillowtop mattresses and any renovations. She assurred me there were pillowtop mattresses on the beds and no renovations being made. (Having a good night sleep on vacation is important to us.) We arrived on 3/19/07, stood at the front desk for 10 minutes before being acknowledged. That should have been a red flag. There was a clerk sitting at the computer on the phone, 2 people could be seen thru an office window straight ahead, and another in an office window to the side. It took them a very long time to greet us. We got to the room to find that I had beeen lied to about the mattresses, and in fact the mattress pads did not even fit the beds that were not even that comfortable, and was your average room and bed, much smaller than many Comfort Inn and Suites that we have been in. I called the front desk, the mgr.came up and apologised while he changed the bedspreads, and had we not travelled such a great distance, were very tired, and had reservations for an evening show, we would not have stayed here. I regretted not making reservations at the Hilton Promenade for $30.00 more a few weeks earlier (and now it was double the cost to stay there per nite). What really irritates all of us is being lied to on the phone, getting there and finding out the truth. Why lie when it is concerns vacations and you will find the truth eventually? It is very distressing to have staff of any hotel do this. Furthermore, the thermometer for the AC is set so when you leave the room, it shuts off. This leaves the room very warm(was 84 degrees when we were in Branson)when you return. Inform the front desk you want this turned off and you can have the room set how you want it. The air blows right on the person who is sleeeping on that side of the bed, which is within inches of it. We have stayed at hotels where they have plastic partitions so this does not happen. The continental breakfast isn't anything special, the same as other cont. breakfasts with the downside being the area is not big enough to accommadate the customers and the overflow are sent to the pool area. This is not a good idea as those people want to eat without getting wet and think the families who are in the pool shouldn't have fun in the pool area. The pool area was also dirty in areas 2 times out of the 4 while we were there. The game room had a few games that didn't work, and is not that big. Basically, we checked out a day early and will NOT stay at this hotel again. I can only hope the staff is more honest with future customers.
