DO NOT STAY HERE
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/5/11
My reservation was made and confirmed a week in advance. I arrived sometime after midnight on a Wednesday. As I approached the counter, I noticed SEVERAL outraged individuals. As I moved closer, I could hear that they were trying to explain to the customers that the "system" have malfunctioned and had kept receiving reservations. I actually heard one of the clerks, in a lower voice, explain that they always overbook to allow for no-shows, but it should have never been allowed to go this far (indicating some sort of human backup system to turn it off). As I was asked to approach the counter, more like herded like cattle, I was asked my name and I was handed a form letter, with my name nicely printed in the middle. The paper expressed in apologies, but explained that, due to "No fault of their own, one of the floors had "unexpectedly" had to be shut down for reconstruction. (How do you overbook a WHOLE FLOOR, isn't there anyone that is TRAINED to see "we don't have anywhere near this many rooms"? Now either the other clerk was lying or this form letter was supposed to disguise the truth. It went on to explain that they had paid for me to stay in another hotel of equal quality. Now 1:30 am..... I don't care. It's a good thing I had decided, at the last minute to get a rental car at the airport, or this would have lead to more delays, taxi expenses and excuses. After driving around for an hour, to find the other hotel, I finally flagged down a policeman. He told me that the hotel they were sending me to, was New Orleans Drug Capital and he wouldn't go there if they paid him $100 per hour! He sent me down toward the Canal, where after 3 stops and phone calls I found a room at 2:45 am. I received 3 calls from the managers the next day stating that they are holding a room for me. Huh.... seems like I have heard that one before. I told them that "Never again will I stay at a Sheraton Hotel" and definitely not at the Sheraton Metairie.

Nice Place
By Bob M, 1/11/09
Short Stay, and everything was just fine. Room was comfortable. Bed was clean and A/C was not noisy like some other hotels are. Strongly recommend, the location is perfect in the middle Metairie, away from downtown.

FILTHY rooms and worthless staff
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/8/06
I checked into this hotel in Metairie, LA on a business trip and my room was horriffic. toilet was dirty with urine and feces, hair in the tub and the carpet had not been vacuumed. The headboards are vinyl and there was dried cum crusted on it. The sheets had dark short body hair on them and were imprinted with wrinkles from where someone had been on them. The glasses in the bathroom were filthy and had been apparently wiped out with a wet wash cloth after the previous person used them and were put back to be used. You could see the fibers of the cloth, water stains, finger prints and lip marks. Just some advice, NEVER USE THE GLASSES IN THE HOTEL ROOMS. I called the front desk around 10:30 at night to tell them that I needed another room and this one had not been cleaned. They told me to come down to the front desk so i packed up my stuff and went to the lobby. The front desk person was rude and unconcerned and offered no emotion but was more irritated to have to be dealing with my problem. The next day I asked the manager, Daniel McDonald to meet me in the room so I could show him what was wrong and all the problems. He told me that he had things going on and wouldn't have time but they would look into it. After much persuasion and anger, he agreed to meet me in the room. After I pointed out each and everything that I had seen he told me that "Apparently Wyndham could not meet my demands and if it was him, he would never stay at another Wyndham again...." This??? from a manager of a hotel and because the room was not clean??? I called Wyndham corporate and filed a report with their customer service and never got a call or heard back at all. NOTHING ! ! ! I even used a white wash cloth to wipe down the counter area around the sink and produced dust, dirt, coffee, hair, etc. and he refused to look at it. I then cleaned the floor with that same washcloth and gathered MUCH FILTH showing how many times this room had not been cleaned. This filthy, unsanitary situation did not occur with only one missed cleaning, it required months of neglect and poor management to get to this point. Most importantly, with hard, solid evidence of failure, the manager didn't want to be bothered with looking and corporate has yet to ever respond. This company continually fails to meet the basic standards of any hotel and they offer amenities to their return guests that they do not deliver.

First Class All The Way!
By Shana, 6/9/05
My husband and I frequent this hotel whenever we're in New Orleans. It's about 10 minutes outside of the city. The service here is excellent. The rooms are always comfortable and clean. The breakfast buffet is a little expensive but the food is to die for. The best part about this hotel is the price. The rates are very reasonable.

OK for Business
By Luis L, 5/17/05
Compact hotel with a big name. The parking garage is tight including the entrance. No free continental breakfast. The rooms are ok. If you become a member of their club you get a small welcome gift such as crackers and cheese waiting for you in the room. That's nice. The location is great and the breakfast bouffet is exquisite, BUT yoy have to pay. Overall I'd say it's a decent choice especially for business. For vacation gravitate toward the French Quarter instead!

Great hotel, but it's in the suburbs!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/1/05
This was a very nice hotel, with great extras like a fitness room and very good restaurant. The staff were polite and helpful. There is even a computer for public use in the lobby. The problem is that although there are buses (to and from the Quarter) that run very close to the hotel, there is no way to reach the hotel by foot, because there is an overpass between the bus stops and the hotel. You *have* to have a car to go back and forth. The cabs to the bus stop/streetcar stop are not very expensive, but they add up. I would recommend this hotel for anyone wanting a nice hotel to stay in, who either plans to rent a car (the hotel has a garage, and I don't think they charge for parking) or who doesn't mind paying for the cabs.
