Great place!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/14/10
The Gran Hotel Sula is (honestly) friendly; a truly established institution, focused on ensuring guest happiness . The staff are the best in Honduras, gracious and happy enough to have stayed there for many years.I met the owner a couple of times over the years, and he is a an American to be proud of,a gentleman to all. There's nowhere more central, and the pool/dining area is always fun, day and night! It is safe and gives you the real feel of Honduras. Over many years, I have stayed in many hotels in San Pedro Sula and elsewhere in Honduras. You'll get a good room for a good rate. Of course, it's not the Ritz, but after you arrive, you'll see why this is a very special place for locals and visitors alike. I've stayed everywhere in the city. Trust me, to enjoy your time in Honduras, stay here or the Copantl. The Princess and InterContinental look good ( and beds are softer), but once you've stayed in the old Sula, every other hotel feels empty, sterile, and removed from the life of the country. I am sure you will feel comfortable at the Gran Hotel Sula.

5 star service at budget hotel rates!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/23/10
My wife and I wanted a hotel in the center of town, our cab driver told us the only hotel is Gran Hotel. What we found was a beautiful hotel on central park. Our room was up on the 7th floor looking out on the park as per our request, a huge cathedral on the park as well provided an amazing vista, at night, my wife took tons of pictures as the place is all lit upat night. The staff was amazing, no reservations and they treated us like family, one porter whos name is Miguel told us hed been there since the hotel opened many years ago, gave us a verbal history of the hotel and city. We were surprised given our room rate, breakfast included, the service, like one would find in a Marriott, without the usual feeling for having to tip for every little thing. We were only there the one night, the room was somewhat dated but obviously kept up, even a flat screen tv. The coffee shop we were told is the coffee shop for San Pedro Sula, 24 hours service, room service with the guy wearing white gloves. The hotel is a full service hotel like few weve seen given the price, sure wish they had something like this in other countries my wife and I willbe visiting.

Never coming Back
By Andre F, 10/29/09
I used to love this old hotel up until TONIGHT. Got a room on a bussiness trip to San Pedro SUla. Ive use the hotel many times before and everything was okl, besides the fact thats old. But today had to call front desk because the AC was not working. To make a long story short, they had to change my room three times and in all of the rooms the AC was not working. IF YOU want to rest this is not the place since San Pedro Sula is very hot. Did a midnight check out and got a room in the Inter Continental Hotel.

Hotel Sula Grabs My Attention
By carlos, 3/21/08
I loved the huge decks on he 2nd floor the excellent view from any floor and the roof. The food and room service is amazingly cheap internet services are very good. The most important thing is the workers that work at the hotel. They greet your and consolidate the you very well they are the true definition of a 4.5 star hotel no matter what people say.

flat screen tvs!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/15/08
Perhaps our biggest surprise was finding a flat screen tv in our rooms!!Balconies that looked out onto central park and the cathedral, much more. I guess it sort of amazed us that our room rate was under 80 bucks and they have flat screens, oh well. A little dated in the building but the service was amongst the friendliest we've found in our travels down here.

Good Economical Hotel
By Joe, 3/15/07
I liked SPS hotel because of 3 things: 1. People were very friendly, and spoke English 2. Pool dining was beautiful 3. 24/7 Resturant The hotel is old, but the rooms were nice. I highly recommend this as an economical hotel.

Very Average
By marlonv, 8/16/06
Even though the fornt desk personnel is great, the hotel is dated and showing it. The restaurant on the first floor as a very limited school cafeteria menu and the restanurant on the top floor has the most incovenient hours for traveles. The hotel has one saving grace, is right in down town in front of the central park and the cathedral, which makes it very accessible to and from the airport. Their courtesy shuttle, is not a courtesy. They don't tell you that you have to pay unti you get to the airport. The rooms are very dim at night and dark during the day, their internet service is unsecure and prone to letting your information be stolen while you are online. So beware. It is worth $35.00 a night, but not what they are asking. Like all things related to travel in Honduras, it is overpriced.
