It was a pleasure staying at this gem of a hotel.
I just complted a two night stay at the 1715 Rittenhouse Hotel, and was thoroughly pleased with the accomodations and service. At this charming hotel, you feel like a VIP staying in a select residence, with its beautifully appointed rooms and Philadelphia charm. Moreover, without exception, the staff was genuinely friendly and helpful in so many ways. The people at the front desk were the best; so likeable and informative. And so professional.
And what I loved about this hotel is its attention to detail and the little things. For example, when we came running in from the street during the day to avoid a huge downpour, the gentleman at the front desk was there to help. He told us that we could find an umbrella in the closet. Imagine that! They had an umbrella right there when we needed it, so were able to head out quickly into the rain without missing a beat, staying dry as a bone, and able to continue our explaration of the city. Only a small hotel that cares about its guests would think of such a thing.
The room was beautiful. Clean and well appointed. Maybe somewhat on the small side, but still very nice, charming, and very clean. Again the small things come into play: the gas fireplace was a nice touch, especially at bedtime. The bathroom shower was the best I've ever seen in a hotel. The complimentary breakfast was superb. And their nightly turn down with a chocolate mint on the pillow was also very nice.
The only drawback is that there is no onsite parking. But they send you to a 24 hour garage with great security which is only a block or so away, and a 3 minute walk back to the hotel, so it hardly mattered to me.
When I booked, I had no idea what to expect, never haiving stayed there, and was pleasantly surprised. The price was affordable too. If you want a perfect stay at a charming boutique hotel in the heart of the Philadelphia, near the historic district, you can't go wrong with the 1715 Rittenhouse.
