Lovely Casino and Hotel Experience
By Gayle, 09/13/09
It has been 3 trips now to the beautiful Harrahs Cherokee Hotel. We have had a wonderful experience all 3 times we have gone. The rooms are nice and large, the staff is top notch friendly, and we plan to return there soon as we can get away again. I am not a smoker but I had no problem at the casino or the hotel. I kind of like the whole casino experience, and seeing people smokers and non smokers alike being able to enjoy this casino and hotel together made me feel good. I think the complaints about the smoky atmosphere are unwarranted. If you want a smoke free environment, don't plan a trip to a casino atmosphere where people who do smoke are allowed. I think there are not many places left for them to go now, and it felt good to see them enjoying themselves and not being treated like criminals. They were treated with the same respect as we were, and that was good to see. I think that if you are an extremist when it comes to smoke, a casino hotel and the casino itself is still a great get-away, and if it bothers you to have people smoking, just take a nice hike instead of going into a casino. It comes with the environment in a casino. I have hit good jackpots 2 out of the 3 times we have gone there as well! It was comfortable, clean, friendly, and a great experience. The only small complaint would be that there is not free WiFi, but with so many things to do around there that was not really a problem, we didn't miss it that much. We could have gotten it had we really wanted it by paying for it. (I am used to free service though). With the jackpots we hit,and the whole experience we had while there, I have to say that it is some of the most exciting times we have had on get-aways. It does bother me to see complaints though by some of the people who complain about smoke in a CASINO! A casino is not the place for such complainers. Not just this one. We really had no problems in this one like we had anticipated from some of the reviews we had read. The ventilation system must be a good one. We truly enjoyed seeing everyone having a good time together, and we had a good time too. Smokers, have a good time! You can't go to many places now and have this wonderful experience, so go and enjoy. Non smokers, go and enjoy as well, because it is really not a bad experience like some people write about. It is good all the way around. The whole casino experience will be complete when we can get mixed drinks later this year, and we can't wait. Just a wonderful environment all the way around! Gambling, drinks, smokers, non-smokers, winning, losing, lights, music, friendliness, safety, quiet hotel, roomy and beautiful all at the same time. Live it up and enjoy! We will be back.... and enjoying it all. If it bothered me to sit near or beside someone who was smoking, I would say it did, but they are on top of it here, and we enjoyed it so very much. No kidding, we enjoyed seeing everyone be able to enjoy it. There is lots to do in Cherokee too, so don't hesitate!

What a great hotel. All was exceptionally well with the room and the staff was more than gracious. Everyone went out of their way to ensure we had all we needed.

Nonsmokers Are An Inconvenience Here
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/06/09
As with all Harrah's hotels we have stayed in, the room was quite nice, plush and comfortable. However, I have smoke allergies and cannot tolerate sleeping in rooms permeated with cigarette smoke. When we arrived to check in, I was informed that there were no nonsmoking rooms left. After complaining rather "vigorously" (I had booked over 2 months in advance), a room suddenly appeared, though @ 8pm it had still not been cleaned. With all that said, once we were finally checked in the room was nice. Surely if Harrah's Cherokee consistently runs out of nonsmoking rooms it would clue someone that that need to designate additional nonsmoking rooms? Oh, and the nonsmoking casino is an insult-why not just put us in a basement, or a hallway, or a broom closet? Believe it or not, I am giving it another shot-it's hard to beat comp. for a price. I'll keep you posted, maybe they are learning!

Loved Our Anniversary!!
By Bob, 12/28/08
My wife and I recently spent our 43rd wedding anniversary in Cherokee. We stayed at Harrah's Casino and were impressed with the level of professionalism the staff possessed, and how warm and welcome they made us feel. Granted, the gaming wasn't much, but we weren't anticipating it to be, going into it. We especially enjoyed the little redheaded girl we talked to for a bit when we had our breakfast in the selu cafe, she was a young fresh face with an outstanding attitude and made us feel like actual guests instead of just another check to ring up. Thank you harrah's for making it an enjoyable experience. We will definately be back!!

The rooms and casino are great
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/07/08
The rooms are large, well equiped, beds are sooo comfortable and we love the large bathrooms. We dont always get the best view, but that is the least important. The new tvs are an added extra. The hotel staff is always pleasant and welcoming. We have a two hour drive to the casino but its a beautiful drive. We have been to the casino about 20 times.

Great Hotel
By Anderson, 05/14/08
We have stayed here about 5 times and never had a bad experience. We like the Selu Cafe for Breakfast. As we play Slots & Video poker the lack of table games doesn't bother us. We usually spend the day in the mountains & gamble at night. I love the Indian Art.

DO NOT STAY HERE IF YOU DONT' SMOKE! UGH!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/20/07
Hello, This past Sunday, December 16th, my husband stayed at Harrahs Cherokee hotel. We were very excited to begin our night away in such a beautiful hotel. However, it turned out to be a HORRIBLE experience. First of all, we wanted a non-smoking room. We didn't get that. Secondly, hardly any of the lights worked in our room. We had to call room service to have them change the light bulbs which took them 2 + hours to arrive at our room. The whole hotel was so smokey. I am not talking about the casino, just the hotel. There is smoke just wafting around EVERYWHERE. After being in the hotel and in our room, my husband and I began to feel feverish. We had all the symptoms of the flu. I knew right away it was from all the nasty smoke. We slept horribly, being so sick from the smoke. We COULD NOT WAIT to leave. Do you think that is right? We paid $69.99 plus taxes for a room at a place that we couldn't wait to leave? No, it is not right. We came all the way from Charlotte to enjoy and night away and we left sick, and tired. Needless to say, about thirty minutes after leaving the hotel and getting fresh air we were perfectly fine. As for the casino, we were unable to enjoy it either because of the smoke, they need a better ventaltion system. We only spent about ten minutes in the casino before feeling evern worse. The non-smoking area was a joke! So, after our horrible stay, we WILL NOT be reccommending this place to anyone. NO WHERE on their website does it say ANYTHING about all the smoke inside the hotel. If it would have, we WOULD NOT have went. Yes, the casino is understandable, but IT IS NOT in the hotel. I think we would have rather spent the night in some flea bag motel, at least they could have given us a non-smoking room.

Boring !
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/17/07
Well I only had a 3 hour drive from Atlanta to get here, but it was still a waste of my time. This place only has computer games. Do not be fooled, if you think you are going to play any table games. All computer! They do have a small small small area for non smokers. Buffet was over priced for the quality. DO NOT think you are getting Las Vegas quality buffet, you are getting Ryans quality.

It's a magnificent hotel but.....
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/09/07
It's a magnificent hotel but it does have it's issues. We had a problem with housekeeping. They didn't seem to have any sort of schedule. I asked for my room to be cleaned by a certain time. I also asked for housekeeping to not get into our in-room fridge because my husband is a diabetic and we keep his needles for his insulin in the fridge. This was so housekeeping would not have to come into contact with them and we removed all of them when we left the hotel. Well, housekeeping keep coming in the middle of the afternoon. We asked for morning cleaning because we always play at night and sleep in the afternoon. We would have to leave the room for housekeeping to clean. The housekeeping department got into the fridge twice after being asked not to and actually removed the needles that my husband using for his insulin. I felt the restuarants was not up to the quality of the rest of the hotel and casino and honestly overpriced. Actually unless we had comps on the rooms, then the whole hotel would be out of our budget at $150 a night when there is nothing going on in the casino. {That is the price the front desk told us.} Before paying that kind of price for three nights, I was rather use the money to fly to Vegas to play. The hotel is pretty and everything if you're using comps for the rooms.
